No pets and no bikes, pretty much ruins everything I wanted to do here. Also closes at 6:30, even during the summer.

A decent preserve with maintained trails. Great for sightseeing and family trips.

It is owned by the Corps of Engineers, operated by the City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation. When fully operational, approx. 800 acres are open to public for hiking, wildlife observation & fishing. 2 campgrounds ( 9 family walk-in sites with picnic table & fire rings at each site, a group site available by prior reservation with a large central fire ring- A potable water source is available nearby) Additional property is adjacent and is being restored to pre-settlement status. Lewisville Independent School District Outdoor Learning Area (LISDOLA) shares the property with Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning area (LLELA). In 1995, the U.S. Department of Education supplied LISD with 84 acres to use for environmental learning, LISDOLA offers a natural place that is close to Lewisville • Walking trails • Trails that loop around • Picnic areas for lunch or snacking • Outdoor drinking fountain • Restrooms • Trail signs and maps
Actually the owner does not know there correct info if...in fact this is a state park you can fish without a license in the park mind you that you pay the fee. As is per all state parks in texas. Here is the proof that the state says otherwise the link directly to the site of the state entity that governs it.....https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/programs/familyfish/#:~:text=Did%20you%20know%20you%20can,ready%20to%20wet%20some%20hooks.
According to their website, dogs are not allowed. https://www.llela.org/about-llela/regulations/no-pets-allowed
The spillway is closed on both sides at this time due to construction. Visit LLELA.org for the most up to date information on when the spillway will reopen.
No, it's private property.
Yes, only at state parks like Ray Roberts and doing shore fishing you do not need one.
No you need a license. While its true you don't need a license at a state park, llela is not a state park.
Only rough terrain besides main road.
No, bikes are not permitted on the trails at LLELA.
$5 per vehicle
Here's another great resource. https://trinitycoalition.org/programs/paddling-trail
Yes, visit LLELA.org for more information. At times the campground at LLELA is under water due to increase release rates from Lewisville Lake. Also, the USACE is currently doing some construction along the dam that will limit access to the campground soon. It is best to visit the website or give us a call at 972.219.3550 to find out if the sites are dry and available.
Yes, they have barbecue stands as well .bring your corn and all..
No
Honestly, not sure. Saw pelicans and other birds and creatures, but did not come across an alligator. The preserve officials will be the best ones to know if they ever spotted one.
There are picnic pavilions around. I forget if I saw grills there too, but I think so.
I don't think so. But I didn't see any signs that says swimming is not allowed
Yes, only in winter months.
No. They don't allow hunting. Check with the army corps of engineers. They have yearly passes that allow you to hunt on their land, with some restrictions. Lewisville lake and grapevine are the closest. Passes go fast. Available yearly when new hunting licenses come out. Must have valid license and hunter ed.
No you cannot live at llela.there is a camp ground nearby.you need to check the listings to find them
Google not translating correctly.. they asked "Will it be open today?" Answer "no we are closed today" / respuesta. " No, hoy estamos Cerrado"
Single kayaks: $15 for 1hr, $25 for 2hrs, $45 for 4hrs
It's only open on special days. If you go to their Facebook site you can find out more.
No dogs are allowed on the property. Dog waste could potentially scare off other animals that are natural to the area.
Yes fishing is allowed only in the Elm Fork of the Trinity River starting at the dam outflow and down the river. Entrance to LLELA is $5 car
