This place is a gem!! (or is it a fossil?). No more than 4 steps outside my car I found a 400 million year old fossil- that I get to keep. If that doesn’t have you hooked on visiting this place then maybe the beautiful scenery or well maintained walking trails will. Plenty of places to sit and eat a picnic or set up your own chairs and relax.

Awesome park with great trails and information signs to learn about the fossils! There's a cool little museum in the information center that has some fun things for kids. Trails are all fairly easy with plenty of fossils to see. Park is easy to access also.

Beautiful place to hike, find fossils (they are LITERALLY EVERYWHERE), family time, fishing, scenic views, etc. There are drop offs so you need to watch smaller children. Ours had a Great time. Very clean. There are signs to guide you & also a museum (it wasn't open due to Covid 😭) We had an Amazing time here!

Awesome day trip location! The visitor center is really cute and informative. It has some fish, turtles, and salamanders as well as some neat displays of animals and fossils you may find on the land. Going down into the gorge and looking through rocks for fossils with our kids was so much fun! They all loved it and want to go back. Just beware of the wet clay. We saw multiple people lose shoes in the clay. Whoops!

You will find Devonian era fossils; there are many small shells & other fossilized marine life.
