Dallas housing takes to long to house you I’m currently homeless with two kids waiting on them to finish 3more steps just to be housed it’s ridiculous communication is so poor I’m so frustrated and no one is helping me or responding to my emails in a timely matter and that’s unprofessional

good job DHA as an applicant of this program i am impressed on the improved staff for the past 2 weeks i have been contacting DHA and every time I have called no matter if it's the call center or directly to a case manager the phone was been answered. I encourage everyone to use the email provided for your case worker the turn-around time is better than a phone call. I want to give a special shout out to Alexander C., my caseworker Mr. Tran, and last but not least Mrs. Linda W. Thank you all for giving me the information that was needed so i could proceed the next steps. Thanks DHA u rock!!!!

I went through the whole process been applying for years. I finally was selected..went in for my apt turned everything in..then I was asked to send in info again..So I turnt in everything to the lady that was over my case..she then sent me a rejection letter stating I didnt turn in my information Im like I can only send in what I have..this was last year..I kept emailing and calling and no response...im like this is ridiculous..Im gone start a petition on dallas housing authority..Im still gone make a complaint on my case worker...its people that are in need of housing assistance and they just playing with ppl...
you can move almost anywhere with Dallas housing, Garland, Rockwall,Denton, Boxes Spring, Irving they want you to branch out

You would call the local Housing location and let them know you're interested in porting out. But, I recommend calling the Texas location that you want to port out to and ask them of they are billing out or absorbing? Each city opens their program at different times. There is really no definite answer. In light of Hurricane Harvey I doubt it would be any time sooner
3yrs ago i signed up i checked on application last year they said i you signed up you still on list when i called they say you still on list i went to office yesterday then the same lady i signed up with 3yrs ago she said oh you got to reapply i just dont know i thought it was public help for housing not a game good luck
Let the inspector still come out and do the inspection it's not on you it'd on them if it fails for the second time then you can talk to your case worker

Good morning, here is some helpful information to all applicants on the DHA Housing Solutions For North Texas wait list. All applications submitted for the HCV program and Public Housing properties are only good for 18 months from the day your application was submitted. After 18 months the computer will automatically purge all applicants from the wait list and all applicants must reapply. All applicants can reapply by logging into their Rent Cafe account on the DHA website. The applicants username for Rent Cafe is usually the email address they provided at the time they submitted their application and the password the applicant generated at that time. If the applicant forgot their password they can always perform a password reset as long as you still have access to the email you provided to DHA. If an applicant no longer has acess to the email address provided they can always visit DHA and their email address can be updated with their new email address.
The wait list is always open. Visit Dhantx.com and click on the "APPLY" tab to get started.
It all depends on availability and funding. Dallas Housing of North Texas uses a lottery system where a computer randomly selects individuals from the wait list. If an individual has not been selected within the 18 month time period from registering they're removed from the wait list and need to re-apply. It's important to monitor your status using Rent Café. Individuals can apply for more than one wait list during the registration process. Once an individual is selected from the wait list they will be contacted via email and letter to complete the recertification process. At this time you will update your application using Rent Café. Things may have changed in your life since you first submitted your application. It is at this time you will update and submit all required documents, your job status, household members, and income. You would need to check with your current housing authority/ caseworker for their time frame requirements. For an example: DHA clients are able to submit a Request to Relocate 60days prior to the lease expiration.

As far as I know, the Housing Choice Voucher Program doesn't require you to purchase renters insurance. The Landlord or Apartment complex may have that as a requirement to rent a house or an apartment in the complex or building.

Are you relocating is it your annual inspection? I so they will give them time...but after 30 days for the relocation they will cancel your packet and if it's your annual they will put it on abatement and you will have to move after so long...

The whole process can take up to 4 weeks for you to lease up... But it depends if your unit fail inspection which may take a little longer

Did they give you a link to login to an acct? I believe all clients were last year You should be able to update your profile online, that has all your personal information.
You need to login to your portal online to check status, also has an inspection been setup? When is your next review? Sometimes they wait til your review. Do you have another place in mind because it is not easy to find a new place. Just ask the thousands who got vouchers for the first time and lost them because of nowhere to move to in the area. When a lease is approved, there should be a move in date on lease. Take lease to housing and you should be notified after inspection has been completed. (Stay on top of it with apts n housing)Rent payment begins the date on your lease unless theres complications
It could take from 3-7 days depending on when manager has it ready. You can move in immediately after the inspection if it passes

No you can't. You have to go to the housing authority office and get a change of income form and submit it to the intake office
