I have attended Fyzical, Paoli for about 2 years for ongoing support with my chronic health conditions (primarily Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)/dysautonomia and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) and it is my favorite place to go to physical therapy! Sam is an excellent physical therapist and she has developed a “Salt Squad” in the last 6 months, which looks to support people with POTS and dysautonomia in a group workout setting. Through this program, which meets weekly for about an hour, I work with other people with my condition who have goals to improve their quality of life through supervised cardiovascular exercise, which is crucial in caring for POTS patients. Some days, when it is extremely humid and hot, the Squad and I text ahead of time if we are all struggling so we can ask Sam for a lower key, or even telehealth, workout that day. The way we met was through a bi-monthly POTS Support group, also run by Sam and Talar (the owner), and there we share resources for survival with this condition (increased salt intake, what electrolyte beverages are useful and low on sugar- since many of us seem to have GI sensitivities, as well, etc.) and generally check in about our physical and mental health in a safe setting with compassionate people! I can honestly say this has been life changing for my support systems, since now I have a collection of friends who understand my daily struggles and celebrate achievements of each other! A little about my one-on-one appointments: when I first came to Fyzical, I had just been diagnosed with POTS and was dealing with extreme joint instability related to EDS. Sam worked with me weekly to reset any joints that popped out and stabilize them for the week ahead. Since working with her longer term, I have been able to achieve massive strength gains safely in my body. I just joined a gym and have a program from Sam that I can do unsupervised in between my appointments, which I have been able to scale back to once every other week. This is a massive improvement from when I started, which was using a cane (and looking at ambulatory wheelchairs) because of my fatigue and pain levels. This past week I walked a 5K on a treadmill and met the daily goal of the AHA: 10,000 steps! I have never felt judged for needing my mobility aids on rough days, and I am proud to attend a Fyzical branch which fosters such an open minded community full of people with an assortment of goals. This is just my personal experience, but I have felt so extraordinarily supported by this PT office. It makes the 25-30 minute drive from Swarthmore, PA entirely worth it. Thank you so much, Sam, Talar, and Sossi.

I am very happy with my treatment at Fyzical. I love that they treat one patient at a time. You get Sam’s full attention for the entire visit and you are the only patient in the room.. The office is extremely clean, and they take all the COVID precautions. Sam is the only therapist who could help me with a very tricky diagnosis of cervicogenic dizziness. She has wonderful instincts, is extremely knowledgeable, very talented and dedicated to her profession. She is also sensitive to my physical limitations from other illnesses. She is a very engaging and caring person, I can’t recommend her enough. Sam also helped me heal from a bout of vertigo in a very gentle way. I have also worked with her on my balance issues and it has improved greatly! If you would like a safe, caring, friendly place for therapy with a talented and dedicated staff look no further. Mary 63

The team here is truly INCREDIBLE! I wouldn't have made the progress and improvement I have if it wasn't for Sam (DPT) and her team- I am incredibly grateful. They are friendly, kind, professional, knowledgeable, and even take the time to hold virtual support groups for their patients. Their dedication to delivering the highest quality of care along with their compassion is something that is so rare to find- could not recommend them more!

We do have Direct Access meaning, you can come to your visit without the prescription and we will get in touch with your doctor to take care of the paperwork. All Medicare patients require a prescription for therapy services. Prescriptions are valid for 30 days following the date of the script. Private insurance companies may or may not require that you obtain a prescription. Some require a direct referral from your primary care physician (PCP). In all cases, it is important to call to verify this information with your insurance prior to starting treatment.
As a courtesy to our patients we will call to verify your benefits for therapy services. Please remember that a verification of benefits IS NOT a guarantee of payment. We are often quoted incorrect information and can only relay what we are told by your insurance company. It is always a good idea for you to call to verify this information.
We will accept any insurance and bill as a courtesy to our patients. We participate with most health insurance plans; however it is very important to call for benefits prior to attending therapy to ensure that services will be covered. We will call to verify your benefits for you.
Yes, we are a Medicare provider. Medicare covers 80% of physical and occupational therapy services. The remaining 20% is the patient's responsibility unless you have a supplemental insurance. As a courtesy we bill all secondary insurances. Currently there is a Medicare cap in place for outpatient therapy services.
Payment is due at the time of each service. The front office staff will advise you of your financial responsibility on your first visit, if not before. We accept cash, checks, debit cards, VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER.

Usually you don't have to pay anything. We will verify your insurance before your first appointment and tell you the details, but as mentioned usually you have nothing to pay.
Of course you can.

BODYQ is an integrated testing program addressing an individual's movement, function, general health, vision, hearing, balance, and recovery. Its primary function is to save you injury and damage down the road, providing comprehensive information on where you stand in terms of your total-body strength, balance, movement, and posture to help detect and prevent injury, illness, and even death. As genetic testing offers you the power of information about your inherent risk for disease, BODYQ® offers the power of information about your risk for injury, dysfunction, and falls. Fyzical Paoli is proud to offer this state-of-the-art diagnostic technology; visit our website or call for more information on BODYQ and our other physical therapy services.
First, we’ll evaluate your gait to determine potential problems with strength and posture. Simple movements to test balance are also part of the assessment. Together, these basic evaluations point us in the direction of what to focus on in terms of therapy. Hip and ankle weakness often leads to balance problems, as does poor posture. Strength and flexibility movements can help counteract these problems. These are often as simple as leg lifts while seated in a chair, or “knee marching.” We may also practice standing on one leg, walking heel-to-toe, or tracking the movement of your thumb with your eyes as you move it in various positions. Visit our website or call our office for more information on the physical therapy programs and therapies we offer for balance disorders.
Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) is a specialized form of therapy for alleviating symptoms caused by vestibular (inner ear) disorders like vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, general imbalance, and other impairments that affect patient quality of life. Fyzical Paoli offers a range of programs and therapies for the evaluation and treatment of balance disorders, including gait training, fall prevention and balance retraining, manual therapy, and more. Visit our website or call our office for more information on balance disorder therapies.
POTS is commonly treated with a combination of treatments including medications, Graded Exercise Program (GEP) of strengthening and cardiovascular activities established by and monitored by physical therapy, compression stockings, and dietary management (Increase salt intake (3000 -10,000 mg per day), Increase water intake (2-2.5 L per day), and eating small balanced meals throughout the day versus 3 large meals per day). Visit our website or call to learn more about how Fyzical Paoli is helping POTS patients with our personalized physical therapy programs.
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system and sympathetic nervous system resulting in abnormal blood flow and orthostatic intolerance. Your autonomic nervous system oversees running automatic body functions such as breathing, heart beating, and digestion. Your sympathetic nervous system manages an individual’s fight or flight response. When these systems start working abnormally, your body cannot regulate functions, such as your heart rate, appropriately. The result for individuals with POTS is a large spike in heart rate with changes of position - either laying down to standing, sitting to standing – and additional symptoms that go along with this orthostatic intolerance. Common symptoms can include blurred vision, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, and dizziness. Visit our website for more information and get in contact with the Fyzical Paoli team today to learn more about our personalized physical therapy programs.
