From the moment you step inside the studios of Planet Dance, you feel a positive energy. Founders and Artistic Directors Missy Lay-Zimmer Hubbard and Andrew Hubbard inspire students by nurturing an atmosphere of creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression. Our daughter, a classically trained dancer for over 14 years, discovered this studio and fell in love with it and all it has to offer. She expanded her repertoire at PD and discovered the joy of learning new dance genres. From theater dance and jazz to contemporary movement and street style hip hop, the possibilities are endless to learn and grow as a dancer. With caring hearts, Missy and Andy encouraged our daughter to step away from her technique driven comfort zone to explore storytelling through creative movement. This transition was difficult at first, but through exercises in holistic expressive movement and constant encouragement, our daughter discovered a connectiveness to her whole self in mind body and spirit. This accomplishment opened doors to the many opportunities PD offered. She was invited into PD’s pre-professional program, giving her an opportunity to work with like-minded students and learn from master teachers. She was accepted into PD’s contemporary performance company, Exhale Dance Tribe. Both provide a unique opportunity for her to grow and improve her skills, as well as perform at The Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati’s largest stage. With the caring and ever-positive encouragement from Missy and Andy, our daughter accomplished these goals long before graduating high school.
