Few spots Lake McDonald (West Glacier) and Rising Sun (East Glacier) I'm still here at Glacier National Park experience of a lifetime.

Great location, only a few miles from the east entrance and within walking distance of the general store. Variety of camp sites. Bear boxes. Potable water. Lots of trees and shade. Spectacular view of the mountains. Great ranger talks in the amphitheater in the center of the campground. Bathrooms were okay - flush toilets, cold water only, leaky sink, loud door hinge, not well lit or ventilated. Included a waster water dump station.

Rising Sun was a great campground and pretty quiet compared to the others we stayed in. Beautiful views of the Sun rising and setting. We were here for a super moon and were able to get amazing views right up the road from the cliff overlook.

You can't beat staying in the park. This is the closest campground to Logan Pass which helped us get there early in the morning before it got busy and the parking lot turned into a madhouse. We saw plenty of wildlife, even a bear. That means you have to keep a very clean camp. We kept everything in our car except our clothes which we kept in the tent. The park service is very protective of its bears and for good reason. Don't give a bear any excuse to be sniffing around your campsite. The sites are a little close and a little small, but we spent most of our time hiking and exploring the park so that wasn't a big deal. We also appreciated the showers behind the nearby camp store. You get 8 minutes of hot water for $2.50. I would definitely recommend this campground, and I would stay again. I posted some pics of the view from our site.

I'm not sure but there is a casual restaurant adjacent to the campground now. Haven't heard of a new restaurant in the works

I just recently had a visit. I did not get any spot on the firat day, but at the second day I went there around 8 am and luckily found a spot. 7 spots were open that morning.
You can come in and get open campsites, preferably before quiet hours. You will place your reservation/fee in the envelopes provided at the entrance and place them on the campsite numbered pole on your site so a ranger can grab them throughout the evening.
