This office is so unprofessional and unethical. I made an appointment for 10:30 am to have my taxes prepared. At 9:45, after making arrangements to leave work, I received a call changing the appointment to 2:00. When I got there at two, I was told that the preparer who I was appointed with was running late and wasn’t there yet. At 2:45 I was told,”she isn’t coming in.” The other woman said she would take me when she was finished with the client she was with and so I continued to wait. This preparer asked me how much I paid to have my taxes done last year and I told her I paid $219 which she wrote in the record as being $350. She said she couldn’t do my city taxes and someone else would have to do it which I explain to her I had a letter which I gave her, stating that I did not work in that city at all this past year because of Covid. The city tax return was done stating that I worked 100% in the city and that I owed taxes instead of receiving a refund of 100% of the taxes that I paid to the city. I ended up redoing the city tax return myself so it was done properly and I would receive my refund I was then told it would cost $600 for having my taxes prepared and I scrambled on my phone to find coupons to bring it down to $350. When I put a bad review in, I was contacted by Jackson Hewitt customer service and they connected me with the office manager who said I would be contacted by the owner of the office which I never was they make all kinds of claims that they will get you the highest refunds possible but who can trust them when they can’t be honest with what they even put in their records. I would never go back to this office.

We were returning customers for the 3rd year and we won't be returning. The one star is because we were helped in getting the stimulus payment we never received in 2021. However nothing else was addressed. We were informed our missing W2s could be accessed while we were there. Upon arrival we were told no we will have to file an amendment later. Oh yes right because then we can be charged yet another fee even though it clearly states in JH paperwork that our JH tax prep includes, among other things, "W2 Download ". Because we were loyal customers we received a $100 off our tax prep coupon. Though we turned over the coupon code, we were charged full price for our tax prep. My wife has STILL never received her federal refund from 2019. We are just told every year it's "pending", even though we paid the fee to receive it fast and no refund for that fee was ever offered. And how are they allowed to charge $50 extra to use direct deposit? They promise $50 bonuses for referrals but we've never received our bonuses for 3 referrals. It cost us 1/5th of our return for this. It's over with JH for us.

Wish I could rate negative or 0 stars. Been FIGHTING to get my 1040v form that I need in 2 days!! Came today at 7:45 to the office in waterford that says it is open until 8. The sign says open but nobody is in there and the door is LOCKED. I read the other sign that says the door is sticky pull harder and I did and it honestly must be a joke. I banged on the door and called a bunch of times. Looking in the office there was wrappers and papers on the floor. Just a mess of a company, the lady that did my taxes was complaining about doing them the entire time and that she was so tired and how slow she was. Wth?? All in all I am terrified as these people have all my private information!!! I would NOT EVER recommend this place and if I really don’t know how it’s in business.

If you have a MyJH account, you can log-in and view your filed tax return. If you don’t have a MyJH account, you can reach out to your local office to see if they have a copy available. If you need a copy of your return from the IRS, you can request a photocopy or a computer transcript. Photocopies and transcripts are free from the IRS. If you need an actual copy, complete IRS Form 4506 and pay a $50 fee for your filed tax return and Form W-2.

do you pay at time of preperation or is it deducted from refund? also how long does it take to get refund?

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service | Oct 17, 2020

Great question Penny! As we have multiple options for payment of tax preparation services available, we'd recommend reaching out to the Tax Pros in your local office for the most accurate idea based on personal preference and tax situation. A refund advance loan can be funded within minutes to 5 business days of application, and we generally see tax return/refunds issued within 21 days of filing, though this may be delayed if claiming dependents per the PATH act. Your local office can best assist with a time frame with a few more details from you, and we look forward to your call or visit to further be of service this season! - Jen, Jackson Hewitt Care Team
