I am an administrator for a nursing home in yhe Salt Lake Area. We have been using interim for quite some time and they have been excellent partners. Very responsive and quick to help with issues. Their staff are very professional and have great bed side manner. I wish more agency company's understood the value of customer service the way Interim does!

I've been with Interim for 2 years and I appreciate everyday the passion and dedication that Mike Hawkins not only has for his clients, but his staff as well. I am humbled by the care that he shows his staff in their growth and development. He leads by example and appreciation during a time of caregiver burnout and turbulence industry-wide. The Interim staff also emits that same positivity with both home and facility clients alike.

I have worked with Interim Healthcare for almost 2 years. I can't imagine wanting to work for another company. The owner, Mike Hawkins, is always trying to do what is right for his staff and supports us in any way he possibly can. I can't recommend Interim Healthcare of Salt Lake City highly enough.

We have found it is very difficult to consistently service clients in small doses. Getting a caregiver to drive across town for 1-2 hours of pay is nearly impossible, so we have a 4 hour shift minimum and a 12 hour/week minimum. Any less and we cannot provide the level of service we feel is necessary.
Home health is a prescribed service that is designed to rehabilitate someone back to health after typically an injury or illness. Home health is paid for by insurance or Medicare and is very limited in time and duration--you will get a skilled and licensed provider (nurse or therapist) 1-7 times/week for an hour and you will get a Certified Nursing Assistant for usually 3 1 hour visits per week. Most people need far more help than the 3-10 hours/week provided by home health and most do not need a nurse or therapist that much. Home care is considered non-licensed or skilled meaning the staff are not licensed and the purpose is to be there for much longer hours doing less skilled work. Typical home care duties include light house keeping, laundry, companionship, transportation, meal preparation, errands, and being present in case of an emergency or crisis.
All I can say is when people are diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia, one of the first things they lose is their short term memory, this is why if you know someone they ask the same question over and over--they cannot remember the answer. So moving someone like this away from a home where they have patterns and memories, into a new facility, everyday they will wake up in a strange, unfamiliar place which can cause more stress and anxiety. By syaying at home, while they aren't making new memories, most will still be familiar and more at ease and overall happier.
Unfortunately no. Medicare and health insurance are designed to rehabilitate you back to health, i.e. you get pneumonia Medicare covers your treatment until you are well, then it expires. Our services cover age related challenges which there are no cures, so our services are not included in Medicare or health insurance plans. The only insurance that covers us is called Long Term Insurance, which most have not purchased.
Our first step is to schedule an in-home assessment where we can identify challenges, make safety suggestions and determine the best way to provide effective care.
we are licensed as non-medical so we cannot administer medications. we can remind of the medication schedule and tell someone if medications are missed.
Anytime you have someone new in your home it is always prudent to remove or lock up valuables including medications.
Some families get very attached to our caregivers and want to hire them directly, this is allowed but we do charge a placement fee because finding good caregivers is challenging and expensive. One word of caution if you hire your own caregiver: You will be responsible for payroll taxes, workers compensation insurance, liability insurance and the entire burden of scheduling will be yours with no back up options if your caregiver gets sick or wants time off.
With us all caregivers are employees who are covered by our workers compensation insurance. So injuries from work and time lost for wages are covered by us.
Yes we are licensed in the city and with the state of Utah under the Department of Health. We also have a liability insurance policy should something happen while our caregivers are servicing your home.
Our employees are hired because caring for others is a calling to them. All have relevant experience and they are all trained through our very comprehensive online university.
Yes, we have caregivers who work around the clock including 24 hour or longer shifts. The relationship with these longer shifts between client and caregiver tend to be the strongest.
We are licensed as non-medical so we help with Activities of daily living, light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, transportation to/from appointments or events.
We service homes in Salt Lake County
The cost varies depending on the situation and needs. The per hour cost compared to other services is quite low but the cost can be high due to the volume of help needed. Cost is very comparable to assisted living, but with a higher quality of care that is customized and delivered to your home.
All of our employees go through a multiple interview process. All submit to a background check that continues to run every 24 hours once they are hired. Each employee is supervised by a very experienced manager.
We make remaining at home with safety independence and dignity possible. Most people if given a choice would prefer to live out their remaining days at home rather than in a care facility. We provide the same level of care as you find in assisted living, only it is 1 on 1 and fully customized to you. We specialize in dementia care. Our focus is supporting activities of daily living, doing light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, errands and transportation to appointments or events.
All of our caregivers are W2 employees so we handle their payroll, payroll taxes, we cover them with workers compensation insurance, and we cover them with a liability insurance policy.
Jennifer, I don't know when you asked this question but I am just seeing it on 6/1/22. We are not licensed to administer vaccinations.
