I had a recent experience with Avis at Jackson Hole airport. I read the review before I booked it and had some doubts. But I was willing to give it a try as I have been always using Enterprise. Landed and the car was ready right outside the terminal. The car could be better cleaned but it was OK. Very easy process. Once returned you dropped the car outside and there was a group of guys which didnt have clear sign of uniform shouted just leaving the key inside the car. No checking while I was there. As one of the reviews said he worried that the guys just took the car and drove away as you don't know if they work for the company. So I snapped a few photos before entering the terminal. i stopped by at the counter of Avis and asked them this is it? One of the gentlemen said yes. Second morning I got a confirmation email said my car was checked. So overall it is a fairly easy process and very convenient. I would use them again if their price is competitive.

Google Maps address/location is wrong!!! It's the branch's former address. See other review below. This branch is at the actual airport. Go to the airport. The rental agreement should be correct - just make sure you're manually inputting the address; don't let Google Maps take over. Will cost you 50 minutes like it did for us (doing a 1-way rental). Avis, please help Google sort this out. Our rental was a great experience otherwise! Glad to get a Prius!

Please be aware that this location has moved back to the Jackson Hole Airport. Three stars because while I only returned here, I didn't feel like the experience was very confidence-inspiring. As an example: I had a one-way rental that charged per mile, and initially they said "you'll get the receipt later". They printed off a receipt right then when I asked, but I've had enough mischarged returns at other companies to feel like a more proactive approach (person checking vehicle at arrival) is warranted.

Rented 2 cars exactly alike. Ford expeditions. One from Hertz and one from Avis. Turned them in a week early. (instead of a month. Hertz Bill was $2400. Avis bill was $4500. Same car (except hertz car was cleaner with lower miles) I am done with Avis. Followup (Jan 2022): AVIS owner called once I sent in contract number. I was told "I should look at the extra cost in the same way as buying a seat on a plane. Sometimes the seat next to me costs less than I paid." And sometimes, you just choose the wrong airline. I rent at least once a month. I used Avis for decades. I now use Hertz each time. Better service, better cars, better prices. But we have never had as bad an experience as we had with the Avis franchise in Jackson Hole. Gave all of Avis a bad name.
