This is the most amazing place! So much history, absolutely stunning sculpture and statuary, not to mention all of the beautiful landscape! Truly a gem of St. Louis. They do all kinds of fun historical tours and events and there is still a ton of space for burials if you fall in love like we did!

The only regret I had was not being able to read the stories on every gravestone in the Bellefontaine Cemetery. The cemetery is very well maintained and the most beautiful cemetery I've ever been! I can't wait to come visit again.

Hello, Karen! Yes, you can walk your dog on a leash through our cemetery, but we request that their humans pick up after them! :) Best practice would be to avoid areas where any services are taking place and anyone visiting loved ones. Otherwise, please enjoy our grounds!
It probably is a haunted cemetery because of the number of people interred there. You can call the office if they offer that. Most likely they wont to prevent vandals desecrating the cemetery but you can try!
There was a fair amount of parking at the main entrance(5 to 10 spots). After that I only saw more parking at the cathedral. I think they are hoping you will walk(which we did). There was not much activity besides people working there. I don't think it'd be a problem driving to places as long as you were only stopping for 5 to 10 minutes.
It is closed after 430. Gates will be locked. Yes there are security cameras in place.
Hello, Theresa! Yes, we welcome guests to enjoy a picnic on our grounds just like families visiting the cemetery would have done 100 years ago. We request that guests do not bring glass bottles, and that all guests clean up the area before they leave. Dogs on a leash are also welcome, but we request that their humans pick up after them! :) Best practice would be to avoid areas where any services are taking place and anyone visiting loved ones. Otherwise, please enjoy our grounds!
You can go to the Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum (BCA) website and find grave search on the home page. There is a William Hibler who was buried on June 15, 1890 in Lot/grave 217 in Public Lot Section F. I did not find any Hiblers. You can visit BCA where you can obtain a map of BCA and directions on finding a grave. I am a volunteer Greeter at BCA.
Bellefontaine has an app that you can download. You can search the name and the app will tell you the location
Yes
Yes. The explorer, William Clark, is at Bellefontaine. The office staff can provide you with directions and a map.
If you go to the office by the main gate they will be able to provide you with all the information you are looking for.
Yes, Union and Confederate. If you go to the office by the main gate they have a nice map with historical info on all civil war heroes of notable significance. They also have all graves marked with signs and painted numbers on the road.
