Stayed here several times. Absolutely love it. We have brought our camper up for several years now and have even tented it a couple time. Went salmon fishing with a charter out of the marina which was extremely fun. Extremely dog friendly which is nice with out 2 dogs. Walking distance from to town. Only thing to make this better would be a huge hottub, but we can dream right??π€£π€£ keep up the great work!

The staff was so helpful in finding a last minute campground when we were given some misinformation from the State Park facility. The only issue with this campground is how close together the sites are. Bathrooms are clean and fully functional, grounds are well kept, and very close to the shore! Will be back

Med plus size lots. Bathhouse was clean and well stocked. Only issue we had was dump station being full and unable to dump tanks. Great trails and views. Very dog friendly. Most dogs we have ever seen in a campground. Kayaked the harbor. 1 mile around. Very nice paddle well protected. Walk into town was easy and short.. Road construction was a pain but should be complete after summer.. Great park entertainment at public Park in town.. Highly recommended, touristy but fun.

A wonderful place to camp. It is super close to downtown Grand Marais, so there is always cool stuff to do. The camping sites are really easy to back a trailer into, and most have water and electrical. The campground was very quiet at night, it looked like everybody went to bed rather early each night I was there. Also, there are some good hiking trails nearby. Pin cushion overlook (I think that's what it's called) was a moderate hike, ending with one of my favorite views of the lake.

They are pretty easy going there. As long as you are being respectful to your neighbors I don't see them raising a fuss about it.
The answer is "Yes"
You can drive to them, or very near them, not what you would consider a hike, although a few hiking trails are nearby!
Hwy 61 to Grand Marais then take the Gunflint Trail
Yes. Common place.
No, there are some primative tent sites. It really is a mix of site types. There is a map online that shows which sites have which amenities.
Hello, Yes you can book a water and electric site and put a tent on it.
They hold your spot until noon the next day. If I understand the policies correctly.
Kim Linnell at "Almost Home" is our go-to, mobile RV repair person. Call or stop-by the office and we'll get you his phone number.
Big News - In an effort to spread out demand and avoid the opening day (January 2nd) crush we have been suffering lately, we are changing our reservation policies for 2021. Starting this late fall, we will be opening up monthly blocks of dates, 6 months ahead of the current month. November 1st = May dates open up December 1st = June dates January 1st = July dates February 1st = August dates March 1st = September dates April 1st = October dates Be aware, we will allow wrap-around at the end of months (i.e. June 25 - July 5) can be booked in December. There will also be stiff penalties for changing your dates, esp. canceling during wrap-around dates.
We staff the office 8 - 4 / M - F in April, so if you arrive during these hours we can sure help you pick out a good site and get registered. If you're after hours, just pick out a winner and stop by the office when we're open the next day. Electric is on and it's $15/night. There is potable water on a frost free spigot on the office exterior. Bath houses are closed. Porti-poti onsite and local YMCA offers showers, hot tub, sauna, pool, etc.
Same here, two of us, calling all day, cant use online booking, fantastic campground, busy.
You can 4-wheel from the campground, there really aren't any trails that start close to the park though. Also we do have electric and water sites as well as electric, water and sewer. Weekends I would recommend reservations as we usually are booked.
Superior Hiking Trail runs 300 miles from Jay Cooke State Park and intersects many of the trails. My favorite is Judge C.R. Magney State Park about 10-15 minutes north of Grand Marais.
Lake superior is cold and clean ,pool warmer
Depending on the facilities you want, they're open year round. See: http://www.grandmaraisrecreationarea.com/campground/index.htm
We have phone numbers for a couple of local folks who are in the business of pet sitting. Inquire at the front desk upon check-in.
You can book sites online now, so maybe start checking there first or call the park as mentioned.
We offer dump-station service for $5 to the general public. Potable water is available near-by. Stop into the office for payment and directions.
SkyPort Lodge and Raven Rock Grill rents small crafts on Devils Track Lake
The answer is - "Maybe". Depends on many, many things - timing, RV vs. tent, size of rig, length of stay, karma... Best to call ahead to get a sense. Some weekends in summer sell-out in reservable land when we start taking reservations, which is year-to-year, beginning the first business day in January. We also offer "drop-in, non-reservable" sites, but these get few and far between in the peak season.
You can also book online from there website.
They are open year round, but water is shut off in October
Yes, but no water or sewer
