Pincushion Mountain Trail System

First time to this trail. Maps at the parking spot seemed a bit convoluted compared to others. There are bike as well as hiking trails, we were hiking. Also had snow shoe and cross country for winter. Trails were good, well maintained. Went maybe almost 2.5 miles in and made it to the overlook. We thought we missed it as there were not much for signs and we assumed it was closer to parking.

Most of the hike is walking on wide cross country ski trails, so relatively easy. Beautiful view at the lookout.

Pincushion Mountain Trail is a favorite.The Superior Trails system is well maintained and mapped really well. The fall foliage and natural habitat was amazing overlooking Grand Marais, MN.

Nice hike five minutes away from Grand Marais. There was a good mix of easy and hard spots with a final push up to the top of pincushion mountain for spectacular views of the superior national forest on one side and lake superior on the other! Whole hike took us about three hours there and back, but we definitely took some time to relax at the top of the mountain!
