This agency is a joke. My dog was attacked 3 months ago by a neighbors dog and everytime i call animal welfare im told i will get a call back. No one ever calls back. These people are either too lazy or too incompetent to do their jobs.

Very rude. I've tried to adopt an animal on two different occasions. Both times we were told to leave so they can go to lunch. When we returned the first time they were extremely rude. This last time I refused to come back. You opened at 10am you could have spent the 10 mins showing my kids the animals and went and had lunch. They don't care about adopting animals. It's pretty clear they only care about lunch. What a waste of tax payer dollars.

I adopted a dog here 5 years ago and she is the best dog ever! Never had issues with potty training. She’s a old dog but is willing to learn knee tricks still. She knows how to sit and roll over. My brother also got a dog here, I told him about this place because my dog is wonderful. And he is a great dog young puppy full of energy

They were kind and very thorough when I had to surrender a puppy I found, that didn't get gel with my pair I have. It broke my heart to do it, but lady was nice. What a wonderful service they provide, knowing they won't kill the puppy & find a home for her. 3yrs ago my spouse went here & brought home a now family member. He was already chipped & neutered. My other dog was lonely. They let them meet through the fence, they just started kissing, still do. I'm grateful to the shelter for this sweetheart, our family is complete. I could've handled a 3rd, but their bond is too strong to add another.

Yes, no kill. The Veterinarian tried to save every animal brought in, even from accidents. Great place
Yes and they are very friendly
Call and ask what they need, I'm sure they need something!
Look for 3 pups the names are long nose, butters and oscar my friend had to surrender them because she had too many dogs for the limit. They are very sweet pups.
Go in person to fill out an application. There is training involved.
You know they wouldn't have this instruction with a normal dog, this dog must have some kind of special need. They'll know their dogs far better than visitors, and want them to have a good home. You could have asked them what the dog needed instead of writing here.
Probably should check w staff. May have 2 be w parent or guardian if very young
They will if they have room I would call first
I have no idea, but the staff at the Norman Shelter are friendly and I'd give them a call. I'd also call Second Chance because it always needs footer homes for animals. Thank you so much for helping a furry critter, and good luck.
I agree with Erin. You don't need to do anything with the shelter, but do notify the microchip company. The shelter staff will be happy to tell you how to notify the microchip company if you have questions. I've found Norman Shelter staff to be very helpful.
There is currently one available puppy but it will be adopted quickly.
Cremate them
I took a couple of cats we were housing last week and it didn't cost anything. You have to call first and then they put you on a waiting list for an appointment. You can't just show up.
You will have to contact Animal Control. Remember if you do find what you are seeking, have the cat spayed and/or neutered,
Im not sure. Your best bet is to look at their lost and found section online or to call them
Norman Oklahoma does not have breed specific legislation. We place dogs in adoption based solely on temperament. We have many wonderful pitt mixes available. You can view all our animals available for adoption at http://nawpets.shelterbuddy.com/.
If you have their ID number, you can call the shelter when they're open to ask about their status.
No, only chickens.
Sometimes they do have rabbits very rarely though
The Norman Animal Shelter is very nice place. It's clean. Just call them explain your situation and see what they say. There also several different adoption agency out there to.
I think the shelter will only take them if you found them in Norman. your ID should show that you're from Norman.
I have actually never fostered an animal, I just got my kitten through them ,
I don't know sorry but you could call and ask
That is a good question..I don't know
You will just have to call the shelter.
Also important, and we have realized this in my family recently, which was not fun... my Dad is 80. He could and Lord willing, will live to see his 98th bday. But it was not until my Mom brought home a 1.5 year old beautiful cat that I realized ... it's very probable that this cat, who is so bonded to my Mom (who has Alzheimer's, dx'd in her 60s), her care will quite possibly fall to me one day. I love my parents, I love my Dad's tender heart for all animals - not just the nice ones :0) I'm glad Mom loves her cat - but her cat hates my cats. HATES all cats. But i might be her only caregiver one day. So just some things to keep in mind so there's less stress or worse, homeless kitties in the future.
I really don't think so, but if I were you I would just call them and ask. You might also check with believe it's call Petfinder.com.
I was thinking about it... Do you have one and if so what kind
The normal dogs that do come through are larger dogs. I did see a puppy there as I was checking out a racoon trap, by the time I was done, they had adopted the puppy and two more dogs. I'm sure they do get small dogs from time to time, usually the small dog has a collar on it and is somebody's pet.
You do it online. They should have given you some paperwork with the web address when you got the dog.
Debbie look at the website for animals they have. After that call them.
Monday-Friday 10:00am to 5:30pm Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm Closed 1pm to 2pm Daily for Lunch Sunday Closed Closed the 2nd Wednesday Each Month They are closed today. 3/13/2019 2nd Wednesday
I believe an address in the county. I think you have to show your license but can't remember.
Norman Animal Welfare is only able to intake animals from residents of Norman
I think both I would call up there and talk to them. Places like that look for people who have the heart for it.
Everybody is correct only during hours
12 weeks old and Michael you are correct that have to be current on shots to get license and you have to get them from a vet they do not count if you do-it-yourself I Stand Corrected Its Not 4 It's 12 Weeks Old
Call animal control
Just don't take a stray to them unless it was found in the City of Norman. I found stray on Peebly road who had been hit by a car and they would not take her.
There is a fee. Also there is a time limit.
Adoptions are $50.00
You have to go to the vet. Call University vet.
