Rest Area - Duplin County I-40

Nice, normal rest area. Clean bathrooms. The only issue is the pet 'exercise' area. It is literally a tiny section of grass next to the fence that cuts the rest area off from the highway. It's equipped with a pole that has a trashcan and poop bags. Convenient but not a place to really exercise your dog. There was also a creepy white van parked right in front making it unaccessible. So I used the picnic area for my dog.

Just outside of Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach is the last rest stop before driving into the area. Definitely worth stopping for those who can wait till they get there people. :-) The rest area has vending and the bathrooms were pretty clean compared to some rest areas. Overall, I was impressed about how well maintained it has been kept and the history part was really cool to learn about around the military artillery. This rest stop also serves as a great place to stretch your four legged kiddo (dog). :-) Safe travels!

Great Rest stop. The restroom were SUPER CLEAN as well as all the facility. The staff was friendly, specially Barbara she was so nice and helpful and alway making sure the ladies room had toilet paper and cleaning constantly. (Looked like a hard working woman) If you are in need of a rest don't hesitate to stop here, we were able to sleep for a few hours and felt safe all the time. Also nice selection of refreshments at the vending machines.
