What an awesome excursion. Yesterday, we saw sunfish, seals, puffins, and a mama humpback whale (her name was Owl) and her calf. Very informative and you can't beat the views. The girl doing the tour narration was so personable and it made the experience even better because she was excited. Highly recommend to bring a good warm coat because you'll want to stand out on the deck the whole time. I brought my patagonia AND a windbreaker to put over it and was glad I brought both and sunglasses. (There is a great area inside to sit down and get snacks.) We even got to touch some baleen on board!

We had a great time on the sunset cruise. It was on a smaller boat than the whale watch cruise and it went much slower so no one seemed to get sick. Lots of good history and storytelling. It was fun to see Acadia from the water after we spent the day exploring it on land. Worth the money!

We specifically came to Bar Harbor just for the Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co., and the trip did not disappoint. Customer service was amazing, they were very open about the swells that day & that it could be rough. Thank you Captain Chad for keeping us informed. Fin & all the employees on the boat were very caring, always checking in on you to make sure you were doing ok and feeling OK. David M. and Austin in the galley were super nice, helpful and did a great job of taking care of everyone. While we didn't see any whales because it was early in the season, we did get to see sea lions, puffins and the beautiful coastline of Maine. We were also gifted tickets to return for another whale watch trip because we didn't see any whales, which was a great bonus! I cannot wait to come back in the fall!

The Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. do a great job of narrating while exploring and showing off the beautiful coast of Maine. During our adventure we saw seals, the infamous puffins, bald eagles along with many other critters as well. The crew were accommodating, professional, a little hunerous and knowledgeable. Highly recommend if you're up for a boat ride in the Bar Harbor area.

Wanting to know the same!! Fingers crossed!
It's still really cold on the ocean there in May, but there will be whales. They start showing up in mid April.
Sure sounds like they do....it was a "whale" of a time for me and my kids🤣😍🤩🤗😏🤓!
I liked morning. + you get the beautiful sun rise.
You will have as good of a chance as anyone. Whales show up around the end of April beginning of May and stay until October.
Prices are listed on the website
Yes, they have a selection of food on the boat, cash only. They have beer and wine as well as soft drinks, water, and some other drinks as well. Fair warning though, be sure your stomach can handle the ocean and food/drink before eating or drinking as the seas can be rather rough. On our trip, quite a few people did get sick so just be careful.
With sales tax and the couple dollars online service fee, an adult ticket is about $72
According to the company's website, the last whale watch tour for 2021 took place on 11 October.
Weather wise I was told that the best time to see Maine is in July and August
Look out for cancellations and call them.
Hi Susan! We offer a senior discount on our nature cruises, but we do not offer a AARP or AAA discount.
Ticket booth
If you have paid for a park pass it allows unlimited entry and re entry for the duration of the pass.
That depends on the cruise you select I recommend their website https://www.barharborwhales.com/ . They list all the cruises and prices.
The whales start to arrive in mid April and will stick around till October so you'll definitely have a good chance of seeing one. I've gone several times throughout the season and have always seen whales. On the rare occasion that a whale isn't sighted they'll give you a free ticket for another trip. It's definitely worth it! You'll get to see a ton of amazing seabirds, seals, and sometimes other marine life like sunfish or porpoises. I highly recommend it!
Yes, very close.
We went in August, plenty to see but also very touristy. Make sure you have binoculars or a Tele lens, they are the size of a pigeon.
I wouldn't take a dog. The catamaran travels very fast over waves and I had to hold on. The dog would have to be kenneled.
You can buy cameras in their shop but you would rather bring your own. They do take one photo of your group but it is very expensive to buy it from them. Otherwise they don't take pics for you to get
All depends how much rain and wind if don't go then will give you other day for it.
They don't go by tide. All depends on if you see any if not will give you other ticket for next one for free
Best time to see the puffins in the first half of the summer. For whales that is the second half
You can sit inside if you want to. I would suggest a windbreaker or possibly a jacket as the air temp. Is lower than on land. It's worth the trip. My family really enjoyed it
The whole trip is about 4 hours. Left at 8:30am and docked at about 12:30pm. It differs depending on the type of tour you select or how successful the whale watch is.
Not sure. Trip is rough and high speed. Hard to keep a pet under control.
Buy them now. July in BH is very busy
No just got to get there early. Its august where you may need them
I've had better luck then, especially with the later cruise. Just remember to bring a sweatshirt or jacket.
The tour I went on was only whale watching in the evening (approximately 3 1/2 hours), so lighthouses were limited. However, there is an all-day event listed, in which you would see more.
Thank you vety much. Going to visit my sistet. From Mass but moved to Washington srate
They don't offer free refunds anymore. Now they give you a free ticket for another trip
Yes. Ours was refunded to our card. Also, they give vouchers for outings with no sightings. Shop very busy but pleasant and convenient. Easy to find.
You have probably founded your answer by now. Anyway If you haven't taken the cruise yet, ask them about what the season has been like the last few seasons or what it's been like this year.
It's a bit hit or miss but they guarantee a viewing or you get a voucher to come back. They said this year has been weirs in that probably because of raising temps the whales are moving to non traditional areas in the bay looking for food so they have to chase them sort of speak. We were almost coming back and we finally spotted one!!! It was awesome as she showed us the back of the tail so they were able to identify her 👍
I was on a watch Oct 1. Saw 3 humpbacks, but be sure to dress like you are expecting cold wind and water.
No, I drove. Some cruise ships stop at Bar Harbor for a overnight stay.
