This could have been in allusion from the heat touching the sand. The ray of the Sun may have possibly colors to bounce off the sand. This probably was a reflection bouncing off the sand.

Unlike what everyone here is saying, there IS a pool in the West Bathhouse. The deepest end is between 10 and 15 feet, I don't remember off hand. There is a second smaller pool that is popular with the older crowd and young kids who cannot swim in the deeper pool yet. I work there.

Fishing is allowed, just not within designated swiming areas (ie. between green flags/lifeguarded zones). There is also a parking field specifically for fishing (field 10).

Pets are not allowed at Jones Beach State Park but that doesn't stop some people. If you bring a pet in that is not a service animal (emotional support animals are also not allowed) you will be asked to remove the pet. Pets are allowed at Hempstead Lake State Park, Belmont Lake State Park and Heckscher State Park.

There are specific barbeque pits at the West Bathhouse, East Bathhouse, West End 1/Nature Center, West End 2, Boat Basin, Field 10, and Zach's Bay where you can barbeque. Barbequing anywhere else on the beach is not allowed.

Parking is normally $10 in the summer, not sure if they'll have something special set up the the concert. It's all day, so you shouldn't have to move it. Expect VERY heavy traffic backed up on the highway at the Jones Beach exit & leave extra time

There is a Board walk that runs the the leanth of 4 ocean Beaches and bb Beach on the Bay side. All wheelchair accessible. On a weekend evening the boardwalk is jumping.
