It's not just about the dogs, (although they rule in my world I confess). I had a vague idea of what UDS did, but after a tour yesterday, I'm truly amazed. The breadth of the services is astounding. It's wonderful to know there is a place that serves so many people, of vastly different ages, challenges and needs, headquartered right here in Central PA. Thank you for the difference you are making ,UDS!

What does this place even do?! Every time my mother needed to utilize her service coordinator for resources, she was just given a long list of names and told to blindly choose one. 90% of the resources they provided her don't even serve the county she lives in. They don't fact check the information they give out to people. I should be paid her service coordinator's salary because I basically did her job the entire time my mother was working with them. Not to mention her service coordinator was NEVER at work, I constantly had to email upper management to get an answer for anything. I would not recommend this place to anyone in need of service assistance. They literally do nothing but give you one headache after another.

Many of the programs provided by UDSF are supported through state and federal funding. However, this only pays for a portion of what it actually costs to provide our services. We also rely on community support and are grateful to our corporate and individual sponsors and donors. 91 cents of every dollar donated goes directly toward supporting the services we provide.

What services are available to help me live independently in my own home as I age?

United Disabilities Services | Oct 13, 2021
United Disabilities Services | Oct 13, 2021

Since slips and falls in the bathroom are a primary concern as we age, replacing a standard bathtub/shower with a low-barrier or no-threshold shower is often the first step in helping you live safely in your home. Well-positioned grab bars and shower seats may also be a good option to keep you safe. Check out our Independent Living Services.

The State of Pennsylvania has several state-funded waiver programs that allow qualified individuals to receive services at little to no cost. If you’re only interested in modifications (such as accessible showers and wheelchair ramps) that allow you to stay safely in your home, you may qualify for other funding opportunities. For more information, visit our Financial Assistance page.
