Sadly there are a lot of issues here but most of it is an HOA / residents issue sadly the park suffers either way. Trash cans were overflowing and stunk like nothing I've smelled before. Crawfish heads and tails everywhere. Ants out of control. The "beach" no longer exists really. The volleyball area is not playable any more. Really is just sad. The road from the gate through the area is atrocious. Potholes galore. Upkeep and maintenance is needed badly. The "security" system and gate would lead you to belive a "great thing" is being protected but sadly that is not the case.

SO CUTE! Very well maintained. And the nature center folks are awesome and have great programs. Very nice camping experience. Do bring some good walking shoes.

A pretty nice park, but the signage is not very good. We did an interior hike that was very nice - didn't see a soul. But after hiking 5 miles you don't want to struggle how to find the main parking area. Trail exits were not clearly marked. Otherwise, it was a nice park. Once the Grand Parkway is completed it will be easier to get to.

Amazing park close to Houston with tons of outdoor adventure options available from hiking to camping, bike trails and even a creek that is open for swimming. They also have a nature center and picnic areas. We love to hike so we spend our time on the hiking trails. The trails are easy, but there are plenty of miles to get a good hike. It’s beautiful and peaceful and not overly crowded, especially on the longer trails. It’s $3 per person to enter but completely worth it as the park is very well maintained.
What are the RV facilities? Water, 50 amp, sewage?

No RV's
I'm part of the Belegarth Medieval Combat community. We do field battles that can have between 50 to 300 participants, if not more.
Does the park have large fields?
Does the park have wooded areas that we can walk into outside of hiking trails?

Yes it is huge theres so many different trails but lots of woods covering the area I would definitely check it out
There is no need for a State Park Pass in order to reserve a shelter or a cottage. Visit the park's website or call the office (phone number on the website as well or just Google it) to make the reservation and to pay for it.
Yes, there is plenty of room for tent camping with a fire pit and post to hang outside light. Restrooms and showers are clean. Play area for children. Overhang to water. Also, a second area of water and a beach.
If you like hiking oh, there are several hiking trails as well and there is a 5 mile road you may walk. I would recommend visiting their website for more detail. All in all a great place to visit. Have fun!
can we stay two nights camping me and my son? how much is the cost.can ipark my car near our campsite

Yes can camp for 2 nights and yes you can park near your camp area price depends on where you going to stay. They have a price book at the front gate i dont know about online.
Not sure. But if you call they are very helpful. Sometimes they don't answer but if you leave a message they will return your call usually within the same day
Not really.,,, it is pay per night.... You have to pay for the tent site, cabin, A-frame, or whatever your looking for plus you have to pay day use fee of 3.00 each day you are there.... Hope that helped...
No. Kayaking is allowed though.
Lake Houston Wilderness Park is not currently an access point for boating on Lake Houston. The park takes advantage of the woods along the creeks and rivers that empty into the lake, but does not front onto the lake. Canoes can navigate Peach and Caney Creeks, although there may be low points that require portage.
You can rent camp sights and fish off the lake (catch and release only), and if your campsight is close enough to the creek (you can keep your limot depending on what you catch), then I would say yes. You do need a fishing license. I would call just to verify.
Do I need Asher reservation? What is the price

To go for a walk only one day arriving you can pay at the entrance
The water stream is perfect for kids. Not so deep specially if you are learning to swim. While swimming kids can Explore different fish like sunfish and tiny ones if you feed a small snack to them. We even fed the baby raccoon by the woods it was very hungry. It's a fun fun place to go.
It's 7 dollars a night plus the 3 dollar entry fee. They have an entire area for tents set up its called the primitive site. it's nice! right next to the restrooms , showers and play area.
The fee is $3 per person over 10 years old, bring a card because they are not accepting cash. I was there on 8/22/20 and saw one of the cabins occupied. I doubt they rent a cabin for day-use.
Is the parking close to the wading/swimming part. I am bringing my elderly mom who can walk short spurts at a time. Is the park close and the walk easy to the water?

Its alot of down hill after you park at the other side of the bridge it might be a little much for her. There are stairs on the side of the wooden padio that over looks the water so she wont have to go down hill on the sand but its still a little of a walk from the parking lot there. Id drive down there to check it out only you will be able to tell ot its to much.
The cost of the cabins is per person

They have individual and in groups ,, I believe from $ 35 to $ 150 depending on the size of the cabins
Can I eat what I catch?
Alejandra De Arias | May 19, 2021
Lee Harless | May 20, 2021
In parts of lake yes. There is a catch and release pond as well.
Yes and no, at the creek you do need a fishing license and you can keep the fish you catch but the lake you do not need a fishing license but it is Catch and Release.
What is the price by night and for people and what it is include? Or you have special package for people?

There price for individual adult is $3 day fee. Overnight camping is $7. The best deal is a family pass for $25 a year which will cover day fees for 3 adults. There is a group pass for larger groups but I can't remember much details. Even after a few visits the pass is well worth it.
Yes, there's a shallow creek bed with a rope swing. It varies from a few inches deep to a few feet. We also slid in a paddle boat once and another time an inflatable boat with oars to travel all around the creek in.
Any paved bike trails in the park?
Russ H | May 20, 2019
John Arredondo | May 21, 2019
I did see people on bikes when i was there, but i didnt notice any paved bike trails.
You can take a camping house and spend the weekend there
If you are looking for boat launch, none. If you are looking for canoe kayak launch a small walk to launch on peach creek. The tiny lake the cabins are around may be easier, but not sure if ok on it. If wanting to fish same as canoe but walk up easy at cabin lake. Hope that helps. The maps are not that helpful.
I don't think the do weekly and monthly rates..... They do have A-frame shelters that have electric no water for around 37.00 per night....they have tent camping with community water i think for 12.00 per night and primitive tent camping is 7.00 i believe...
In Lake Houston or lake Isabelle but not Lake Dabney. Dabney and Isabelle are inside lake Houston wilderness Park. Lake Isabelle is a 3 mile hike but worth it is you want to catch some nice size large mouth.... Good luck
Yes you can swim where the dock is by the bridge over the creek and and cedar creek landing. Cedar creek landing used to be my favorite spot but we didn't swim last time we camped so I haven't seen it since Harvey hit. Used to have a beautiful beach, rope swing and a shallow to deep area
There are 2 A- frames that sleep six people 37.45 night, 5 screened shelters sleep 6 people each 25.50 per night, Lakewood cabins (6 total) each sleep six with 2 queen beds , and a queen soda bed 133.75 night. Remember each site includes taxes but not day fees which are 3.00 per person or 25.00 gets you and 3 guest in for a year.. there are other rates as well as accommodations but that covers the basic question I believe.....
Great camping with a site for every budget, of which the screen shelter are my favorite.
Just make sure to book in advance for the weekends, the place is pretty popular.
is there camping like in a tent if you do how much is it

Can I rent a bike? Overthere

Hi how much are the cabin rentals?
janie espinoza | May 20, 2018
Wolfman Mods | May 21, 2018
$133.75/night plus $3 per person per day park entry fee.
If you plan to stay at the cabins often a $25 family season pass for entry is ideal as it covers the admission costs for up to owner and up to 4 additional persons for the entire year.
They were repairing flood damage on the larger cabins for 20 in September and they should be available now. Call ahead weekends are often busy and booked in advance.
