I see on the website it says for basic fishing you have to make a reservation, but then i see we can just show up and pay 3$ for the entrance. so could i just show up tomorrow to fish and barbecue even i just want to catch and release fish?

Yes, just pay the 3 dollar admission fee at gate. It is catch and release only however....
