The north rim is so peaceful and not super crowded! We were amazed at the beauty. I’ve seen pictures my whole life of the Grand Canyon but until you see it in person the pictures don’t do it justice!

We always love coming here. Less people then the South Rim :) We have been here a few times and no matter the time of year it is always amazing. The weather seems to always be perfect (I seriously think it is always this perfect but others say luck is involved) The Rangers are so brilliant and always ready to answer questions

It was absolutely beautiful to see the canyon draped in snow. We had fun enjoying the sights but also the drive even though there wasn't much out there on the highways besides food, since we did bring some with us. The GC was a stop for our meal and being in awe of the majesty and of the altitude we were at. It wasn't bad of a drive from Vegas.

The drive-in to the park was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed our time seeing the Grand Canyon from a different perspective. High elevation of over 8000' it was nice and cool. There isn't as many people that visit the side of the park. I loved it 8

When does the North Rim open in the spring??

I think it depends on how much snow is on the ground at the time. I went in March 2016 and it was open

What about Valley Fever. We have been cautioned by friends to live in Arizona and have lost dogs to it. Also people can contact it. We will be camping in a motorhome with out poodles if we visit the GC.

I believe valley fever is more of a low desert disease. I have a dog who recovered from it it is not incurable. She had to take medicine that was fairly expensive for about two and a half years but she got over the valley fever. Most people that contacted at the worst they've usually feel like they have the flu for a few days and it's over for most it's a slight cold and rarely it's worse. I have lived in southwest Arizona for over 40 years

Do you recommend hiking N. Kaibab in early November from N. rim to Phantom Ranch?(Going up S. Kaibab or B.A. next day.)

As long as it hasn't started snowing yet that should be easy.... But if it has started snowing or they've already closed the park For the winter it will be a heck of a lot more difficult. And by an easy I mean for most people from North kaibab to phantom ranch isn't a crazy difficult walk. It's the hike out the next day that will get you. Either way you need to be extremely prepared to hike in the Grand Canyon. It's not something you just drop into and expected to work out well. I love the hike down South kaibab but hiking up is no fun. At least not for me. And there's no water from phantom ranch to the top. I usually recommend that people hike out bright angel. there's water there's more people and there's more shade.
