Elk River Floats & Wayside Campground

I’m giving 5 stars to the business itself because they are awesome. This is our second time going and the team there is phenomenal. I highly recommend calling in advance and paying over the phone or making a reservation online in advance because their spots fill up quick. For the river experience itself I would not recommend this river if you are looking for somewhere to get away and unplug. The first time we came here it was during the lockdown in 2020 so it was a lot more chill. This time it was packed and I feel like I spent more time trying to navigate and dodge people rather than enjoying myself. I was able to get a few shots of parts of the river that weren’t crowded, but for the most part the river was packed. Lots of loud music from all different directions. People throwing trash into the river. Other experiences that I won’t go into. The point is if you are looking for a party type of environment then this river is for you. If you are looking for some place that isn’t overloaded with people to just chill, I would look into another river.

Beautiful!! Very well kept family owned by the most friendly people north of the Arkansas border!! But that doesn't even begin to describe how amazing these people are. We move to Bentonville Arkansas on 1980 after our parents split. Being that money was always very limited camping became the cheapest form of fun my mother could afford. Through The years this is one of the places we came to most often. My sister and I spent many Summers camping with our children on this River and at this very campground. Our mother became a snowbird spending half the year in Texas and the Summers at big elk campground. We lost her in 2017 and she asked to be put in the elk River. When we came to them and expressed how important it was for us to hold a celebration of life for her where most of our best memories were spent, not only did they give us permission, but they even had blocked off the spot mom loved most and we're more than accommodating in every way possible. They had even refused our money when we asked how much. I cannot tell you what that meant for me and my family. They are truly incredible people that run a very successful respectful family oriented clean business and one of the most beautiful places in all of the Ozarks!!!! If the elk River is in your vacation plans do your best to make a reservation here you will not be sorry. I've camped at other ones along the river in Pineville, and I promise nothing compares. 💕⭐🌟 THANK YOU SO MUCH BIG ELK!! YOU ARE THE BEST BY FAR!!!! SINCERELY, SHERRI BRADLEY FAMILY!

Booked weekend excursion for our family with two others. Very nice, helpful staff for booking, float, questions, etc. The float was very fun and enjoyable. The 8 person cabin could use some additions to work for 8 people. It is very spacious, in nice area for peace and quiet. However, it only has a tiny sink, small fridge and bathtub which, if fixed would make it VERY nice accommodation.
