Can be a good place for patience but the problem is that the person who has said that was going to help with Medicaid keeps bringing up that she will have my dad sign paper work for two or more weeks now which does not help with a patient or what’s going on with an even bigger situation outside the place with him

Everybody in the morning shift from what i hear from patients in my clinic are great, but theyre understaffed in the evening shift. Plus if you want your residents to have the best care, you must hire caring people, and i believe theyve lacked on that in recent days. I used to work here from 2009-2013, and its come a long way on decor. One thing that DID NOT come a long way is the PAY for people who have seniority over newbies. I believe the CNAs who worked there 15+ years and have spent nearly half their lifetimes with this nursing home deserve ATLEAST a $7 increase in base pay. You guys hire people at $19-21 and hour as cnas with no experience and i think its only best you cater to your loyal workers. By the way i used to work as a resident assistant before we had a union and i got screwed out of my back pay back then because i moved to dietary after that vote. Anyways nice place and hope the residents are happy but the night shift needs to do better, and the pay for people working over 15 years here should be $7 an hr more or atleast match todays inflation rate. Do better, new owners.

I have to be honest, initially when my Dad was sent to Surge from Brookhaven Hospital ( which was a nightmare!) I was very hesitant. From the moment my father entered Surge he was treated with kindness and compassion. The staff was helpful and kind. The nursing supervisor went above and beyond to keep me updated on every aspect of what my father’s condition was. She even called me from her home in the evening to discuss his care. I am a Registered Nurse myself and fully understand the demand and amount of work that is placed on the staff in a Rehab Center. Every aspect including nursing, the aides, social work, the physicians, the physical therapist, speech therapist never made me feel rushed when I had questions, they took time and you can see they truly work hard to provide caring, compassionate care not only to the patients but to the family as well. I could not find one negative thing to say about my experience. Unfortunately my father could not recover from the issues presented and the staff provided kindness to him and his passing was peaceful and pain free just as my father had always wanted it to be. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the staff at Surge for making a difficult situation a little bit easier to handle. Keep up the good work and thank you all for your service💖💖💖

I wasn’t sure that my wife was getting a good rehab. But I trusted Linsey the social worker from Mather to direct my wife and I to the right direction. When my wife arrived to surge from on March 2nd, 2022, she was in pretty bad shape with a trach and was also on oxygen. The whole staff took very good care of her. She couldn’t even use the button to call the nurses but since she’s came here to surge I’ve seen a lot of an improvement everyday with my wife. The rehab staff kept my wife motivated even when she felt like she was going nowhere. Everyday she’s making remarkable recovery. Today April 6th, 2022 she will be discharged and she will not be going home with a trach or any oxygen. I’m very grateful and blessed to have met everyone here at surge and I thank them all for everything they have done for my wife!

In my opinion, with the experience my mother has had for the past few years, the administration is full of ass backwards people. The scheming, neglect, mistreatment of rights for the residents go pushed aside. More often than not, they are spiteful when it comes to the residents speaking up about their care. Also they refuse to respond to family members who have plausible reasons for calling. Nothing is ever accommodated. The very few employees that are good @ their jobs, get screwed over by the people in charge of them while the crappy workers get special unprofessional privileges. All this facility does is sabotage & trap people here. They don't help you get where you need to be. Do not trust this place, it's best to look elsewhere. The administration only care about themselves, not the actual people who live here & who's health care pays their paychecks.
