Awesome place to visit and do some camping or fishing. Especially fishing they have a hundred foot Pier that puts you in the mouth of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. They also have a few historical sites that you can visit from the civil war era. Not to mention there's a really cool lighthouse that you can check out.
Absolutely!! They have a fishing Area, Picnic Area. Also Areas were you can be more private, away from the crowds And nice to walk around the Beach area! Also Point Look out is a Historical place of the Civil war . (I love History) so its really interesting !!
You can camp at Point Lookout State Park. You must make reservations in advance by calling 1-888-432-2267 or visiting parkreservations.maryland.gov and making your reservation online. There are campsites for tents and RVs, we do not have cabins.
If it is close but is limited in high season. If you arrive a little late you may not find parking nearby and you have to park a little far in the boat rental shop.
I haven't camped there in a few years, but the last time I did they were nice. I do visit the park often for walks and to go to the beach and it's always very enjoyable. The park is clean and very well maintained, so I'd imagine the camping areas would be much the same.
The main picnic area near the swimming beach has picnic tables and charcoal grills. On the weekends in the summer, this area fills up very quickly so it is best to get there early to make sure you get a table and grill. The park opens at 6am on weekends. Pets are not allowed in this area.
Between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend, no pets are allowed in the main beach and picnic area of Point Lookout State Park. However, leashed pets are allowed in all other areas of the Park. The Pet Beach area is on the Chesapeake Bay side of the Park, just south of the Causeway.
After Labor Day weekend, up to Memorial Day weekend, pets are allowed in all areas of the Park.
Point Lookout State Park ended night fishing in November 2019. The reduction in park operating hours is a cost containment strategy and part of a statewide plan to remain within our allocated budget. While we know that these changes will affect some of our customers, our measures are an attempt to limit that impact while still being fiscally responsible. The costs associated with providing 24-hour access to the park, such as cleaning facilities, providing restroom facilities, trash removal, staff time associated with patrol (civilian and NRP), etc. did not make it feasible to maintain those 24-hour operations given the current fiscal constraints.
Is it already open to the public to bathe?

No, there is currently no night fishing. The park closes at sunset every day.
If you are not camping and you leave the park you will need to pay to reenter. However, there is not a lot of store in that area, there is a dollar general, another locally owned store, and a convenient store that sales sandwiches and fried chicken.
Hi.
I would like to know if it is open every day of the week?
And I would like to know the schedules.

When I first started going to this beach the water was so clear that I could see my feet through it. The last time I came they put those rock barriers but the water wasn't as blue. Can anyone tell me the actual color of the water please?
If you get camping permit to stay there overnight and have fishing license. Or just finishing license if you are going home after. Check their website for up-to-date rules and regulations.
