Thank you for making this free! My family and I really enjoyed taking pictures.

Great day trip recommend going during the week if you can. Great photo opportunities. There are places to park but may fill up quickly on a busy weekend. There are no bathrooms on site so plan ahead.

It was amazing there. I like how there's paths to walk through, that made it easier for my mom that uses a walker. The sunflowers were just beautiful. I will definitely go back
Tz Y
It's always a pleasure to come and see the beautiful sunflowers in bloom each year. The Grinters have work this place for 4 generations and I don't think they plan on stopping anytime soon.

Are there still sunflowers in the fields to see and take pictures with znd of??
No charge. Donations are encouraged. I'd check their Facebook for updates. The weather hasn't been kind to the crop this year. I think if any bloom it will be later than usual
How late are you open today? Is it too late to see the sunflowers?
Absolutely! Bring your pup (with leash) and let the photo fun begin!
Yes, just know it is super muddy from the rain earlier this week.
Check out their Facebook page for up to date rules. But I dont think pets are recommended.
The store has a side walk and the area around the field is pretty flat, but the fields aren't accessible.
They only request if you take sunflowers to leave a dollar donation but it is kind to leave one regardless. If you are doing photos you are not required to pay.
Last free exit from I-70 E is Bonner Springs and from there you can take 24-40 or K-32.
Sunrise to sunset...its less crowded earlier and on weekdays...check out their FB page for their Rules of Engagement...they expect people to respect their property and others, clean up after yourself, and enjoy the beauty with others there...its gorgeous!
Due to weather it will vary each year just a little bit but late August to early September. They are very kind about posting updates on their Facebook page.
Taking pictures is completely free! They do ask for a 1$ donation to cover their maintenance costs.
All day it's a field they just don't want people showing up at night.
No it's still going on . Till mid sept
Open every day
They are past bloom. Labor day weekend every year is a sure bet for them. So mark your calendars.
No opening or closing time...so pretty much whenever you want
It is a farm, no gate or barrier preventing you from entering at anytime, day or night
Sunrise supposed to best pics. Yes sunrise is available Parking free and plenty. Donating would be a nice thing to do.
Yes. Sooner the better though before the sunflowers fade.
It is open all the days. No gate/barricade to prevent one from entering
Yes, if it is not raining to hard. The flowers are still there
Yes, there is really nobody to stop you from going into the field. You can go any day.
Yes
Check the Grinter Farm website for hours for the store. The fields are unmonitored this year, so seem to be open 24/7.
There is no charge to visit, but donations are encouraged. There several " tin cans" placed for the donations
Yes, the Sunflower farm is open and the flowers are so beautiful
Yes. But please pick up after them.
They are blooming now. 🌞
I was there two weeks ago and was asked to come back during labor day weekend for Sunflowers...
Not yet. Labor day
No. I visited the place on Sunday 8/16 and there were none. Owner mentioned i was 3 weeks early.
The Grinter Farms FB page says they expect the flowers to start blooming at the end of this month.
We just drove there today, NO sunflowers...yet?? I don't know if it's too early but not a bloom in sight now.
It's free but you can leave a donation. You can park close to the fields with a short walk.
Frost bitten.
I couldn’t find the phone numbers for you but we always get update from their Facebook page # grinter farm
The fields usually don't last till the end of September. Every year around labor day they bloom. They last about a 2 or 3 weeks depending on the weather. You'll have to wait till next year.
There is no charge to visit the sunflowers.😊 They do ask for a $1 donation for each sunflower you pick. 🌻🌻🌻 Just up the road is Sunflower General, the cutest little general store with all sorts of sunflower items that are locally produced!🌻❤🌻❤🌻 You will have an AMAZING time at Grinter Farms!😍
Yes, but not as much left as it was 2 weeks before
They are in FULL bloom right now. There are two main fields..the one by Sunflower General is further along..many stages here. The other field has what looks like two varieties planted near the red barn area. Some are further along than others, multiple stages here. There is plenty of beauty if you look. Unless they have another stealth field somewhere doubtful they will be blooming end of Oct.
I was there last September and they was in bloom
Wait to go the second weekend of Sept.
Free but they do have a donation box.
You have to go to their Facebook page. They said last week that it might be mid Seot before the majority bloom because the rainy weather made it necessary to replant late in the season. It's quite busy over Labor Day usually but it might not be as pretty
June and July are perfect timing's but it's good right now, next month will be to late
Pack a lunch and make a day of it. Morning the sunflowers and spider webs have dew on them which is cool for photos. Miday the flowers are almost straight up take a few shots each lunch and maybe a quick nap. Early evening is beautiful sky colors and portrait time. Enjoy
The sunflowers aren't blooming right now. Are you asking about that or the store? You can check hours for the store.
No. Usually around Labor Day. Look up their fb page to know when the best time to go.
Their Facebook doesn't work anymore, so you might try googling it. They don't have an active website. Try http://www.kansastravel.org/lawrence/grinterssunflowerfarm.htm
Usually around Labor Day weekend but it is difficult to oredict until they are planted, which happens usually in July. Check their Facebook page for updates/photos.
They usually bloom in September, around labor day time.
That is a seasonal field. They don't have any sunflower now.
By this time of the year, all sunflowers in the entire state are long past blooming. Some of the flowers, like ours, are still in the field waiting to be harvested but they are just a field of dead flowers now. Our first frost typically happens sometime in October but the flowers are usually gone by mid-September at the latest. (Usually...) Thanks for asking, Cindy.
Pretty sure they are Not, its middle October.
Agreed. Flowers are currently in bloom
Yes they are
According to their Facebook page they currently still have some in bloom.
Blooming was delayed this year so you're in luck. The sunflowers are open and looking good right now. Expect big crowds this weekend so be prepared. Check the Grinter Farms Facebook page for details about how to best manage the crowds and where to park. Enjoy!
Actually the sunflowers are blooming late this year. Most of the fields are blooming now. It's a good time to go!
A dollar per head, but I would wait if you are wanting them to feed the birds as the seed is not yet filled out. About another month should be enough time. The petals should be long gone, the heads have to droop, and the backside should be yellow.
If you're referring to the KS turnpike, than yes, it accepts both
Yes, they do. Also, so can you. Just put I think it is 2 dollars for the sunflower head.
Grinters will say the expected bloom date on their social media page
No, they are not. Check Grinter Farms Facebook page for expected time frame. Usually, mid to late August start, through mid to late September.
As Mike and Beth said, the sunflowers are in peak bloom between mid August and mid September. The exact peak bloom that lasts about two weeks depends on the amount of rain and overall weather conditions every year. To keep track of when the peak bloom is expected to be this year, visit the Grinter Farm Facebook page or their website.
The Grinter Fam sunflowers bloom sometime between late August and mid September. The sunflowers are in rolling farm fields. You park in a designated dirt lot and walk directly into the fields. To take the best photos, bring at least a two-step kitchen stool to get you above the 5 foot tall sunflowers. If it's rained recently, the fields and parking lot will be muddy, and if it's been dry and hot, the fields will be very dusty. Plan ahead and check the weather before you go. For hours, check the Grinters Farm website and Facebook page. You'll also see when the peak bloom is expected for this year - it varies year to year depending on rainfall and other weather conditions. Do go at peak bloom - it's a magical experience! I wish I could post a few of my photos from last year here for you so you can know better what to expect, but there are thousands of Grinter sunflower photos you can see online by searching on Google Images. Good luck!
The sunflowers are at peak bloom for several weeks sometime between mid-August to later in September every year. Check the Grinter Farm website or their Facebook page for exactly when the peak bloom is expected to be this year.
Donny, we are just a field so no admission charge. Please note that if you come at peak hours, getting a large coach turned around may be a bit of a struggle depending on where you go. We do manage semi's (we are a farm) but are usually not driving them when other cars are around. You are very welcome to give it a go if you are adventurous. We attempt to have the peak bloom time around Labor Day. The flowers only last 1-2 weeks depending on the weather.
No, they won't even be planted at that time. Around Labour day every year
Time of year- you'll have to keep an eye out on their Facebook page around labor day, that's when they bloom. Time of day - any time is great, I think that mornings are recommended due to the better light and less traffic. As far as I'm concerned, there IS no bad time! Fantastic place; I would suggest you go on a sunny day, when the flowers are in full bloom
Yes,they sell the harvested seed for bird seed!
Grinters sunflower only has fb. $1 donation each to hike thru 60 acres of sunflowers. Ntb.
I do not know. Check the website.
You can also ask on Facebook grinter farms
Time is right to visit now, the store is open all week for now also. Weekends are packet with lots of traffic to deal with. Weekdays are still busy but much more enjoyable. I posted some pics on Google Maps from this week 9/8/17.
Only about 2 weeks max! Go during the week if at all possible...
The sunflowers are beginning their full bloom period at the time and will reach peak in early September.
