Mt Hope feels more like a historical park than a cemetery. The winding lanes, spaces and structures make Mt Hope a place that you could walk every day and not get bored. The University of Rochester’s Carillon bell music can be heard through most of the park. Undergrad photographers from RIT frequently wander the park. If you are in the area, Mt Hope Cemetery park is worth a visit.

The green burial plots in Mt. Hope are located near the barn. The cost for a plot ranges between $800-$1200.
Yes, during the summer. They close at dusk.
I know of 2, at the Rochester orphanage asylum monument, and also at the grave of little Violet nearby. Back in 1901 the orphanage burned down killing several children and employees. I think the dolls were left in remembrance.
Not sure who the builders are, But it is of enterpernure John Barclay Davies. There is a detailed plaque on left side of the doorway.
You can have someone locate it for you at findagrave.com.
No, it is run by the city. There is a large old inter faith chapel on sight that looks like a church. That chapel has not been in use for years but is being renovated. Again it is a municipal cemetery.
I think the Arenas's like to travel and wanted to reflect it with their headstones. I think it is rather clever! They're still alive as of this posting.
You can ask for permission.
Yes you can, as long as you're respectful of course. It actually was pretty common to have picnics in Mt. Hope during the Victorian era.
It can be. You can walk or drive through the majority of the cemetery.
It costs nothing to walk around the cemetery. However, the Friends of Mount Hope do offer wonderful tours on Thurs at 7, Saturdays at 11 & Sundays at 2, fir a fee of $10. These are historic and very interesting!
Yes
Call the office. I believe they have regular business hours.

I don't believe flowers can be ordered directly from the grounds, however there is a business called Heaven's Maid who will deliver flowers, clean gravesites, and more.
Unfortunately, no. It has been closed to the public for some time while work is ongoing.
