Will never allow my family to place someone here again. I get wanting to keep a clean environment for the cemetery. But THROWING AWAY peoples special items they buy for their loved ones or even cherished memories they leave is absolutely outrageous. There HAS GOT TO BE a better solution than just throwing it away and not even informing the families of a clean up happening so they can have the opportunity to come get what they have left for people who are NO LONGER HERE WITH US. I am devistated. My family was JUST THERE and placed things with names engraved on them. We spend our money on these things to be placed there in memory and you people have the audacity to just throw it away like they are nothing. I did not want my family left here in the first place and this is another great example of why.

We have had nothing but bad experiences with this cemetery, unfortunately you are stuck once you choose them in grief. They don't adequately clear snow and ice. They randomly removed things from some grave sights that they are OK with at others. They also remove perfectly allowable things like plastic flower holders. When you call with a concern they always assume you have made a mistake and they are in the right. And oddly enough when you go to collect the things they removed your expensive items are never there. If you still have a choice, choose somewhere else.

This cemetery is located between Lake Ave and Dewey Ave in Rochester ny. The employees keep this cemetery clean, safe and grass mowed . My parents/ grandparents are buried here and been coming here most of my life visiting them. Great job to all of the employees who keep this place clean and safe. Gerry

I'd say the only half I really liked was the much older part, but that's just because I'm partial to old cemeteries. Beautiful, old stones. It was cool to see Louise Brooks there!

Hello Sheila, my name is Scott I work for HSC out in the field. Your best bet is to come into our office or give them a call to find out what is allowed and where you can purchase the proper stones or even to get a temp maker placed. If you need help locating the burial site they can assist you with that as well. I will pass the question along to management but if you dont hear back soon I would suggest just stopping by any weekday between 8am-5pm.

Why do you have rules on decorations and plantings?

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery | Aug 11, 2022
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery | Aug 11, 2022

With nearly 450 acres of land, the safety of the Rochester community and our employees is our primary focus. Therefore, we must take the utmost care in maintaining the safety on our grounds. Due to the cemetery’s size, very large number of burials and the need to maintain the grounds in a safe and efficient manner, there are rules regarding planting and decorations. A full list of regulations is provided with every purchase, at each of our cemeteries and are available digitally. These specific brochures govern decorations for graves, mausoleums and columbaria. Please refer to these brochures when planning decorations and if you have questions contact the Cemeteries’ offices. Our purpose is to care for those interred in our cemeteries while maintaining the beauty and safety that families have trusted for generations. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Is cremation accepted in the Catholic faith?

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery | Aug 11, 2022
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery | Aug 11, 2022

Yes, cremation has been an acceptable option for Catholics since 1963. The Catholic Church believes that the cremated remains should be treated with the same respect and reverence given to full casket burial. The Catholic Church instructs that cremated remains should be buried or entombed; scattering of cremated remains or keeping them at home is not considered to be the reverent disposition that the church requires.
