Detroit Housing Commission is a FRAUD! I went there on October 9, 2017 to meet with Anthony Watson, the Compliance Manager at that time, regarding receiving 2 Lease Addendums from Cornerstone Estates Leasing Office. He failed to correct the issue which ultimately lead to my family being illegally evicted on March 13, 2018. There were a number of violations committed by Detroit Housing Commission, Cornerstone Estates Leasing Office, Premier Property Management as well as Detroit HUD Field Office against my family within 0ctober 9, 2017 thru March 13, 2018. They all work together to cover up housing fraud. Detroit 36th Court is also involved. On March 7, 2018, Robert Beale of Premier Property Management had Johnathon Mapp, Baliff at Detroit 36th District Court kicked in my door about 3:30 PM when my minor daughter, age 15, was at home alone. I was actually at Detroit HUD Field Office pleading my case with documented proof that my family had not violated HUD Rules & Regulations. The next day my family resigned the lease again & 5 days later Cornerstone Estates Leasing Office & Premier Property Management illegally evicted my family. They were angry because I asked for copies of documents that proved they enforced a tenant rent increase 2 months before the effective date which is a violation according to HUD Rules & Regulations. There's no justice in the housing system in Detroit. The main people in working in the housing programs are working against families for their greediness for money. They don't care about the people.

GO FILE FOR A "NOTICE TO QUIT" WITH YOUR HOUSING OFFICE, LOCAL COURT, AND LANDLORD. SITE WHY YOU WANT TO MOVE. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR REQUEST FOR REPAIRS WELL DATED & DOCUMENTED IN TRIPLICATE. GIVE A COPY TO ALL THREE. AT THAT TIME, REQUEST FOR YOUR MOVERSPACKET FROM YOUR HOUSING OFFICE. START LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME. AT THIS POINT, ONE OF TWO THINGS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. 1.) YOU WILL GET THE NEEDED REPAIRS ONCE THE LANDLORD KNOWS WILL LOOSE MONEY. OR 2.) YOU WILL FIND A AWESOME NEW WELL KEPT HOME TO LIVE IN. EITHER WAY, YOU WIN! P.S. DON'T LOOSE MONEY IF YOU HAVE TO MOVE OUT. REMEMBER THE MOVING OUT RULES OR THEY CAN COUNTER SUE FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT FOR TWO TO THREE TIMES THE COST OF REPAIRS. RULES: CLEAR AND CLEAN UP ALL CARPETS, CABINETS, COUNTER TOPS, WALLS, WINDOWS, WOOD FLOORS, TILE, TOILETS, REPAIR/REPLACE ALL DAMAGED BLINDS AND SCREENS, DOORS, WINDOWPANES & SILLS, WALLS, LOCKS, PORCHES, AWNINGS, SIDEWALKS, SHRUBS, PLANTERS, LAWN CARE, TRASH CANS AND GARAGES OR SHEDS. GOOD LUCK!
PUT A letter letter in the dropbox address to your worker and what you need your phone number in email and address name. If you make it very visible to your worker, they can't miss it.
Please be patient most of the staff is working from home, so most of the paperwork is behind but trust me if you was approved you will receive your paperwork. Good luck
Nope and barely a return email
Currently the Detroit housing commission section 8 wait list is closed. There is a program called the mod rehab program whose wait list remains open that is also a section 8 type of program however the section 8 is attached to the unit and they are very specific units that you can live in . You will have to go into 2211 Orleans to apply to get on the wait list for the mod rehab program. On May 19th the East Pointe Housing Commission section 8 program will open up and they will be taking names to be put on their wait list. Go to their website for more info
No you have to Schedule an appointment
I haven't had any issues. Due to COVID-19 they have fewer caseworkers, so patience is needed...
if you receive a termination notice or denial you have 14 days from notification date to request a hearing. Put it in writing drop off at the office
I notice they respond to emails better alot of them are working from home
it means you were selected for that particular waiting if your mailing address is current you would have recieved a notice telling you what date you needed to respond by to start the eligibility process contact the waitlist department numbers are on the website
I'm sorry I was contacted for a temp position... I know it's hard to get through ... Sometimes knocking helps ..
No they are not back open to the public you have to get in touch with the inspection department.
Anywhere from a few months to a year. Depends on the waiting list.
With the covid there's no telling how long but before the covid about a couple of weeks
It could take a few months to a few years. It depends on your circumstances.
