I'm so grateful for The Road Home but everytime I go there the place is filthy. And there is always employee/security people standing around, always between 3 to 5 of them standing and chatting also there it so much theft at this place.
John Tate
Staff is helpful. Shelter is well kept.

It's a great place if U have nothing...they can help U get clothes, shoes & public assistance of all kinds. They have quiet place & books 2 read & lots of great social opportunities. It's a safe place 4 U 2 B U!

Tons of pplvolunteer in December usually volunteers come in once a week and serve dinner and during December there's almost a different group every day. Just call the office tomorrow and ask them how you do it?
Yes we take all those things
On the east side of the Road Home( which is Rio Grande Avenue) go to the south end of the building. There you will see a large sliding chain-link gate. And in front of the gate is a speaker box. If you pull up to the gate and honk your horn, or push the button on the speaker box, they will respond by opening the gate or speaking over the speaker box. There are also signs near that gate on the Southeast corner of the Road Home Building that have hours for donations.
Well the great thing is Google can produce the full history of the message text application ( that has mysteriously been removed ) law enforcement, state and federal government bodies with a warrant can seek the history of the messages. So who ever opened the Google message option obviously needed the username and password and from there it just takes a little bit to figure out what devices the username and password was entered. But how in the world would that get out? Especially in a shelter for temporary service for the homeless. If last I checked, it's in the high 90% of the residents who maintain a long stay in the shelter are convicted sex offenders who can't get approval for housing and convicted drug dealers who don't even apply for housing. So I would hope that individuals such as these don't have access to a message board. Because that would almost seem like staff and security wants them to know when a tip has been submitted. That wouldn't be good.
Yes we will. We will help anybody.
That information is confidential all you can do is have them paged or leave message its up to the person if. They respond or not otherwise your not going to be able to find out
Take them to the midvale shelter, it is specifically for families
To volunteer you just need to call the volunteer coordinator there. We always need clothing (any size), blankets, hygiene products, can foods and soups.
For someone who has nothing and is homeless such as i was for 3 years. I lived at the road home and on the street..they do give out hygiene packs. Yes they are sample sizes and they are very decent. You can also ask at the desk for shoes and clothing if you have none! I disagree with Jessica. I feel she's a bit ungrateful, considering. Also if you bring your own stuff be prepared to pack it around with you all day and it most likely would be stolen anyways. This is the BLOCK we are talking about,!!!
Since the l clean up there aren't. any more lines.. So about 8 in the morning. But be there before 10 that is went they stop. Then they let the people who are still outside come in if they want to
If you want personal ideas of what people can use their small bus passes (i.e. daily weekly) small gift cards to WinCo, gas voucher for the store right at the corner store, but you can not hand them directly to the clients that live there if you're on the property, you can only do it outside the gate..Also families that were there b4 that dont qualify for christmas help thru rd hm /candy cane lane often are still struggling and could use help. The families at the shelter are very well covered usually.
Thay do that here or I can help everyone one here helps out and do there part
no its not hart to bed, just sgin up the morning befor and make shure you have ID with you
Greg, please call the homeless connections line at 801 990 9999 and you will be connected with resources and information about beds.
Midvale family shelter
I don't really know, just have to call them and ask.
That I do not know. sorry
Yes sick people no shot requirements to stay
Check ins for bed checks are 6 AM and 8 PM respectively. If seeking a bed you should show and ask to be put on the list / call the VOA volunteers of America who can get you referral beds to this and other shelters.
Hi Tammy! Absolutely! We are open for donations every day between 8am and 7pm. Thank you!
Of course. We would love to have them, they are very much needed.
Is this accurate that you can IMMEDIATELY connect people to mental services? Because when speaking to your staff in January of 2020, it was stated that you're case workers are overloaded and it can take them several business days to actually connect to a new client utilizing the emergency shelter beds. What is the case RIGHT NOW, as of August 2021? It's helpful to have current and above all accurate, information for the community you serve.
Do you know of any local shelters/resources to help homeless WITH pets?
They are no longer open
Yes. Anyone can go into their donation room and get some clothes. Baby clothes is something they desperately need
Hello! Thank you so much for reaching out. We currently operate a family shelter (Midvale Family Resource Center) and are moving into a new Men's Resource Center in South Salt Lake. Please feel free to stop by and/or call 801-990-9999 for more information.
I would suggest st. Vincent's across the street from roadhome as they serve meals there daily
They have computers at the Catholic community services you can use. You will need to get a badge with the front desk though as well as fill out any paper work they require.
Hello! Yes, you can contact The Road Home at 801-359-4142. Thank you!
Hello! Yes, we accept donations Monday-Sunday, 8am-7pm. Thank you!
If they have a large cellar where you can leave whatever you want
Hello! Yes, you do not need an ID to receive a bed. Thank you!
YES. Vinnie's gives sack lunches out at 11:30-12:30pm.
The woman with children go to the shelter in Midvale. Woman with no children go to the Road Home.
They can give you a travel voucher..you have to talk to coordinated services and show a proof of employment and where your going to my understanding.. good luck
Laura Vielstich at that time Utah Highway Patrol was policing the Road Home Shelter as part of Operation Rio Grande. Contact the office of Jess L Anderson of the department of safety for the state of Utah and demand answers. He was a Jess L Anderson was a highway patrol officer before he accepted his current position but Officer Lucas was in charge of the Highway Patrol at that time. And if you need even more assistance contact the ACLU of Utah, because they were highly critical of Operation Rio Grande and I know for a fact that they are not liking how the state is trying to sweep and put that Operation out of the public memory. I knew Matt and please know that I am extremely sorry for the grief you have had to endure. It's a comfort of hope to read a parent still acknowledging there child. If I pass away in the shelter my family would not even blink an eye. So again it's wonderful to read a parent still expressing there love
Yes you can go with your kids and stay there and yes they help you with housing. It's not just for Salt Lake County it's for anywhere and your kids don't have to be with you for you to get on housing.
The items donated to The Road Home go to the DI. My advice would be take your donations directly to the DI.
The Road Home offers shelter and housing programs based on individual need, circumstances, and vulnerability. There is no limit to the amount of time a person can stay in the shelter, but you may need to check into a different bed regularly. The Road Home is a non-denominational facility without any religious requirements for those seeking shelter. The Rescue Mission two blocks away requires valid ID and participation in their programming.
Probably 18
What is this upsetting information
You are welcome to donate them to both The Road Home and the mission.
Why are they bothering you ???? lol Are they making a mess Maybe get a hobbie job or sleep if they are lol
Good Morning Pam, We would love to assist you! For parking, there is some street parking, generally 2 hour parking, on Rio Grande Street. There may also be some parking on 500 West and some on 200 South. The best place to enter the shelter is on Rio Grande Street, head North and right next to where the safe space starts is the Women's entrance. You can check in at our Women's front desk and they will help you get connected to resources and a bed in the shelter. If you have further questions, please feel free to call 801-359-4142. You can speak to one of our Client Advocates or a Case Manager. Thank you so much!
Unfortunately we do not have ways to help with gasoline.
Women get lots of help there, but on the other side the men just have to make due and pray for the best and prepare for the worst at times. Ive been gone about 5 months now though.
Front desk haa the mail also answers any questions you may have
Client engagement/ emergency services. Their office is located at the downtown shelter.
Try the weigand center, community connection center, or the transient bishop at welfare square
The Road Home is a 24 hour shelter. If you go there they can assist you with a warm place to sleep. Also they have can give you resources to help you get back on your feet. All you have to do is check in.
They will give you a voucher to go to the DMV to get your ID.
You'll need your birth certificate and social security card, birth certificate costs $18, social security card is free. That along with a letter from the case worker at the Road Home stating that you are a resident there is what you take to DMV and pay DMV $18, which is the cost of a state ID. They will give you a paper copy of your ID that works as temp ID for 6 months. Your hard ID will come in the mail in about 6 weeks. It will be mailed directly to the Road Home where you pick up all your mail. If you don't have the money to pay for it you can talk with the special services people at the Road Home and they can give you a voucher for the cost of both the birth certificate and the DMV fee. It'll take all day but it can be done in one day and will be worth the effort once you have the process complete. Good luck to you!
Yes you have to ask to get answers
To my knowledge there has never been such an event. Your best bet is to call The Road Home directly and ask them.
More kids in the Midvale shelter better to take them there
Wed and Thu this week.
Its not true anyone can go to the road home
Midvale shelter
Go talk to Darcy in client engagement. She can help. I don't know if u are at The Road Home now or if you got home but if not. Ask where u can find Tyeson Rogers tomorrow and I'll point u the right way.
Ask a case manager! They often have cakes to make or sometimes gifts to choose from.
From reports in the news media, Operation Rio Grande is in its first phase of deployment. The Road Home is not due to close until June 30th 2019, when Salt Lake City UT will then have 3 other shelters built throughout the city. Hope that helps you. Check out ksl or channel 2 news for more.
