You'll need your birth certificate and social security card, birth certificate costs $18, social security card is free. That along with a letter from the case worker at the Road Home stating that you are a resident there is what you take to DMV and pay DMV $18, which is the cost of a state ID. They will give you a paper copy of your ID that works as temp ID for 6 months. Your hard ID will come in the mail in about 6 weeks. It will be mailed directly to the Road Home where you pick up all your mail. If you don't have the money to pay for it you can talk with the special services people at the Road Home and they can give you a voucher for the cost of both the birth certificate and the DMV fee. It'll take all day but it can be done in one day and will be worth the effort once you have the process complete. Good luck to you!
Ask front staff they will let ya know inside if ya ask them
I got around needing a birth certificate. Apparently, medical records work. I got a one-page print out from the 4th street clinic. It needs to be "stamped" and signed. They know what you need if you just ask for your medical record for proof of identity. That was the only thing I needed for an SS card. That and two pieces of mail to prove residency was all I needed for State ID. A letter of residency from the road home or the community connection people will work instead of mail. I'm pretty sure the medical record still works. This was last July when I used mine. And of course, the $18 dollars, or the voucher will be needed.
There's an office building across the street that's the administration for the road home he need to go over to speak to them
You do not need to be staying at the road home to use our Client Engagement office formally known as Emergency Services. We used to be in the Weiland Center now we have an office in the main lobby of the Road Home. You just need to come in and fill out an application with us. We are open on Mondays at 1pm to 3. And tuesday thru friday from 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm.
Across the street from T.R.H. is the Wiegan Center, run through Catholic Community Services and named after the late Bishop Wiegan. They open the gates at 7am and there is a clip board to sign so people are called in the order of signatures for the mail and other services. An nd when your name is called you ask them for a voucher for the DMV.
If you are staying in the road home contact the client engagement office, they deal with stuff like Id's and birth certificates and other person info. I you are not staying there you'll have to go to the D.M.V.
