Very helpful when I went there asking for a cat to befriend my Greyhound. They are the best of buddies. Jeff loves to curl up with Sophia. In this pic she was asleep (Greys sleep with their eyes slightly open) and Jeff reached a paw out to hold her leg as he rested on my lap.

You know when you get an animal you shouldn't juat see it as an animal. They want be apart of a family too just cause they are lil rough they shouldn't be sent back to plave they wanted escape from so bad. Dogs/cats etc dont give us away and us humans are ass holes. Keep Briggs just deal with it.
https://www.petfinder.com/dog/leo-44506653/il/springfield/animal-protective-league-il10/ Animals at APL change frequently. Highly recommend just going and spending time taking a dog for a walk or go play fetch with them in the fenced area in back. You never know which one will steal your heart until you spend time there! Bonus when you adopt one that is already house broken!!!
Yes you sure can they will take him give him his shots fix him and you can adopt him if you wanted to
They sell the flea treatments for pretty cheap! Drops or chewables. I use the drops For my cats, they will ask the weight of your pet. (Chewables for pups, they will have had to "see" your pet for those. For drops, start at the neck, & go down the back to the tail.
APL does not euthanize animals based on space. They do have a large foster base as well. If the animal is adoptable, they will put it up for adoption, and have it available for adoption until it gets adopted. The foster program is usually meant for animals not available for adoption or animals that come to APL sick or injured. APL will continue to care for any animal until it gets adopted.
Please call and provide contact info. May have one on site.
If they are still available i would love to take one in.
Not sure, please call Monday morning...
Springfield in city limit is 6 pets per household
This is a Google user forum for opinions as and experiences. You're best calling them on their main number during business hours and asking for specifics. Good luck!
I'm very sure they do,thank you for donating them. It's the people that help here and there that makes the difference for the animals.
Call around. There has to be a better option than taking your family member there. It is horrid. No place for a well loved pet.
They change the clinic month to month ,they try and have one every month. Useuly 9am- noon and a sat.
Don't believe so
I went in to visit the shelter looking for puppy and filled out application. They called back to schedule a visitation meeting for the puppy I requested.
Yes they will take the kitty back.
Call an ask them
Call the spay/neuter clinic for more info. They are happy to help.
No, the APL is a no-kill shelter
Appointment
I dont think they are taking voluntary surrenders. Best to call em
They can have some at any time but the smaller dogs get adopted quickly. Consider an older one to give them a forever home.
Personally i would ask them they might but they also could be full so i think best bet would be to call and ask.
I have been to APL several times with dogs and cats and have had no issues..I would recommend APL.
On their website there is a page that talks about all the different costs plus shots, microchip and other items. 35 if a male, 45 if a female and 25 on feral cats.
We had our male cat neutered, he also got his rabies vaccine and distemper shot and it was 60.00 .. We did not get the rabies tag though so, that is another 17.00
No it is not
No you don't.
Unfortunately APL does not help in that regard. They do help with food though.
I would suggest calling them. They may be able to take the kitty if they have room. Or if it's feral they may be able to assist with their feral barn cat program.
I would call the Animal Protective
they get very busy, It is best to just go in and wait
Yes, call first. Many times they can help but some times they are full up
I don't think they open until noon. I believe that they only take care of their animals only.
Dr Boyce in Chatham! Chatham veterinarian He is the Best!!! Never charges an office visit!!
I seen in my neighbors yard that they got their pits fixed for free.
Ok thanks guys
You will have to call Animal Protective League to find out if they have the space. Because they are a no kill shelter they often have limited space as the only way they make new space is by placing animals in forever homes.
I suggest you call them it may require an appointment.
They have a monthly vaccine clinic on a Saturday. Not sure which Saturday of the month or the cost. The phone number is 544--PETS OR apl-shelter.org
Call and talk to the animal Protective League spay/neuter Clinic. They are always willing to help in some way. I've always had good luck with them.
Generally, no. Only if necessary. Fo instance, one of my fosters was euthanized because he had a debilitating disease and no treatment was available to help him and he was in pain, both physically and mentally as he could not even lift his head or get up. So, only if there is no quality of life and is the only humane option.
It is better , if you have an appointment. Just call and take an appointment.
It's very reasonable priced. Less than a hundred I think.
You would need to contact Animal Control for that
$85. I recommend APLU on Tainter Road
As always with these type questions, you should call and ask as it depends on APL guidelines.
Our dog had the same problem, we took him back and they put him on antibiotics and it was free of charge.
Please call the Spay/Neuter Clinic for a full pricing list. Pricing my differ depending on the shots you receive.
I would never adopt an animal unless I was wanting to be a part if their life for the rest of their life, but I guess if the furbaby doesn't have that same appeal anymore please take it back. You probably won't get your adoption fee, but at least that furbaby has a chance to find a family who will truly love it unconditionally.
Shots. Spay . Neuter. FIV leukemia test. Chip. They provide a fantastic service at reduced cost. You can also get flea treatment
I'm not sure you will need to call and make an appointment
They are and they also offer low cost spay, neutering, vaccinations and have a great adoption service.
I tried every place wants cash or credit care which I was denied..I can debit but it would have to be on a set date to avoid overdraft...it's a good thing we're all human or we would be left to just suffer as well.. but for the record Odie is better then some humans in my book..he is my friend ..campaion..better then some ppl..
We got our black cat free you might want to call them and see if they have some for free
Id cont. Calling. Could be theyll have a cancellation. At times they have specials in certain neighborhoods. That is how we got our 87 lb male pit done. There were signs in the neighborhood.
Yes they will take them
I'm not to sure about that you can call them tomorrow when they open
Prices are listed here.. http://www.apl-shelter.org/dotnetnuke/SpayNeuterClinic/PricingandSchedulingInformation/tabid/151/Default.aspx
I'd suggest you call the shelter first thing Monday morning to ask if they can take her & the kittens. When were the kittens born?
Call up there faster response
I suggest calling them, they might be able to help
Why your first instinct wasn't just to call them I don't understand. 😶
I haven't heard of one but your best bet is to just call up there
I paid $150 for a German Shephard
Please call them directly!! This is a review site !!
They gave me the option to pick our cat up after the shelter opened at noon.
If Briggs isn't working out you can also try "Wild" on FB. They are great at placing pets.
Most vets should be able to provide scanning services and update information process.
You can't rent a cat lol but I k ow u can adopt a cat
Absoutely
APL rescues dogs and cats to be adopted. You should call ahead to ask if they offer vet services, but as far as I know, they only offer spay and neuter to the public to help curb the unwanted puppies and kittens in the world.
They do have new kittens to grown cats for adoption of all shapes, sizes, colors, and get more all the time. Fees for adoption cover having the new pet fixed and brought up on shots. Please contact them directly for prices and times they are open. If you have other pets, you may be asked to provide proof from your vet they are current with shots. Ask for any other changes of requirements.
You might want to try - (if needed) to sell them to the Fish Man pet center. They will only give wholesale prices of course. They just moved to the Fair Plaza near Walgreens on Sangamon Ave. and Peoria Rd. Not sure they are excepting but you could call and ask.
Rabies 1year 18 dollars,rabies 3 years 25 dollars,rabies registration 9 dollars,DHPP (canine distemper) 15 dollars,Bordetella (kennel cough)15 dollars,FVRCP (feline distemper)15 dollars they are low cost.they have a clinic once a month.
Yep. Fees vary by animal, promotions, etc. It's best to fill out an application and inquire about the specific pet you're interested in.
You might just go in and ask, but I thought they rely mainly on volunteers.
For a full list of vaccines and prices you can call the shelter 12 to 5
Ok thank you
Take your dog to apl. They have a veterinary clinic.
You need to call and ask when do they have clinic, they have reduce price.
Dusty Pierson no it doesn't cost anything, and they can find a good home for your dog.
Please call, they offer very reasonable services.
APL is not a Vet open to the public. You can get Spay/Neuter and Vaccinations only done at APL.
Animal Protective League is not a vet clinic. They do offer vaccines for the public at low cost every 3rd Saturday of the month. 10 am to 1pm no appointment needed.
Call APL to have them change it in their computer systems. Also be sure to call the microchip company he is registered with to Change yoyr info there as well.
If they are healthy probably not much you can do. If they are severely under weight etc. You can call animal control so they can check it out.
APL has a large assortment of dogs at any given time. You can always call first before visiting. They do not look for specific breeds to rescue, as the rescue from kill shelters in the area, but sometimes they do get specific breeds in. They are open 12 to 5 every day of the week.
