Fantastic! Joanne set my family and I up over the phone quickly for emergency help. The other team members were very kind to me as well as the others I saw coming in. Overall wonderful energy. They carried themselves in a very professional way. Thank you all for your help. 2022 has not been easy on my family and we definitely needed the food assistance while I wait for my first payment to arrive from work. My children are fed and I am crying from the overwhelming kindness. Bless you all!

Helped me each time I needed it. You can go once a month. Gave me food and then when I was homeless and living in my car, they even gave me towels and wash cloths, soap, and toothbrushes so I could wash up in sinks at public bathrooms. I used all of the things they gave me. And the workers are so kind and friendly. I never feel like they don’t want to help or that they don’t want to be there or think I am beneath them because I am going to a place like the one they are working at for assistance. I love the woman who is always there each time I go. She always is open and makes you feel like you are normal despite being there. And when I asked for the towels and hygiene supplies, even though it took a lot of work for her to go look and find some, she did it with the warmest heart. Not like she didn’t really want to do it or I was a burden on her. Wow. And the people who hand out the food the two times I went were always smiling at me and so kind. It blows my mind I guess because I would think they would treat me like I’m a pariah like the government workers do when you ask for government assistance. Everybody has been nothing but kind and welcoming and have helped me each time I’ve been here. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could cry. And I mean that. My experiences were so happy even though I was going through such a tough time 🥺💕

I was greeted with waves and smiles by two of the workers and I made a generous donation for the displaced women of Portsmouth 🙏🌎🥰

Oasis is an amazing organization that's support it's community:) keep up the good work.
Oasis gets wheelchair donations from time to time. Call to see if they have any before going over. They don't have any delivery service available.

There's not much they won't take. You can also donate to Taylor's variety shop, there a unique thrift shop off of Western branch boulevard in Portsmouth a block in front of Maryview hospital...3620 western branch boulevard Portsmouth va 22707 There open monday to Saturday 10am/5pm https://taylorsvarietyshop.com/
They accept coats for the needy any time. You can drop them off whenever they are open.
The Oasis thrift Store serves two functions: as a general thrift store which sells items and as a clothing/household item referral source. The second function gives clothing and household items to individuals who come with a respective referral from DSS or another social service agency in Portsmouth serving the low income/homeless in the community. For example, if a client in a Shelter Plus Care unit is needing clothing then DBHS will send the referral to Oasis and the client can receive clothing free of charge. There are many agencies that utilize that service. To pay the overhead for the storefront, electricity, and minimal staffing, some of the donated items are available for sale. So basically, what sales occur of the donated items allow Oasis to give away clothing and other things to the needy.
There is no pickup option for oasis. If the item(s) is (are) large like furniture, call salvation army and they will arrange a day/time with you.
Not 100% sure but I do believe they help or they put you in touch with a shelter that could house a family
