Found this place along the Whitefish Bay Scenic Drive. They have charcoal grills and a picnic area. Families were swimming, fishing and boating in the lake. It's an "on your honor" payment system if you have no rec. pass on your license plate

My father and i were tent camping around the central UP and found this place as we were heading to the Soo. After driving through the campground once, we decided to stay. We talked to the hosts Hannah and Al, who were both wonderful. They filled us in on the history of the property and some fishing tips. We liked it so much we stayed a second night. The sites are spaced well apart from one another, and we had easy access to the lake for our kayaks.

Nice place to camp. Paved road throughout. Accommodates rigs to 35 ft. Back in only. No pull through sites. As expected, no hook-ups. Very clean vaulted toilets. Fresh water is available near the bathrooms. Very well maintained. Friendly campground hosts. Plenty of space between sites. Lots of walk in lake access. Good hiking trails. Very quiet. We had the entire park to ourselves. Stayed in late June, lots of mosquitos and wood ticks; but that is expected at this time of the year. Will stay again.

Wonderful campsite on a gorgeous lake. If you’re not worried about electricity, it’s a perfect spot. It’s also about an hour away from many awesome sights.

Thank you. Trout lake??? National/state/private. Any information appreciated.
It just depends on when people leave. If the site is open you can get in anytime.
Reservations can lock in the really nice lakeside sites for you. Walking up is hit or miss.
