All i want is a VA card to get my urgent care stuff, but that’s literally impossible when no one picks up and no calls are returned.

I hate driving in Nashville but the VA office was so nice has to do a search like at the airport due to it being a federal building. The security personnel was very nice and the VA officals were very nice and helpful.

Seems like they are trying to make improvements. For the most part things have been going well with my C&P exams. Aside from the missing G.I. exam. CH 31 counselor was very patient listening to me and got the impression that she actually did care and wasn't just going through the motions. I could tell she was very task oriented. However sometimes that is a good things and understand in order to move the meeting along that I didn't need a lot of validation from her about how messed up my situation has been. Trying to cover almost a decades worth of health history etc into a hour time slot is probably challenges. I hope they are able to get the counselors voice dictation software similar to what some other healthcare providers use it really helps cut down on workload sometimes unless you're super fast at typing. Trying to think of creative ways to make their jobs easier so that they are less stressed and more productive. I appreciate them trying. I didn't realize how overwhelmed or overworked some of the counselors were. Maybe they could consider having more disabled veterans to work studies with them and helping with clerical work etc, or helping to call or message for appointments or assistance with submitting paperwork etc. I am really happy to feel like I am not having to currently fight for my benefits. It helps to allow for more of a team work than adversarial type of attitude. I appreciate the VA trying here and hoping to start over fresh with this VA and get my unnecessarily low-level behavioral flag removed, so that I am not getting providers who are on the defense before even speaking to me. Feels like a good season of change Thank God. Praying for continued smooth sailing with the VA, to help keep the stress down for everyone.

Questions & Answers

Can i get a copy of my dd214

Donna Clark | Oct 7, 2021
Bleu Lane | Oct 7, 2021

Yes if you contact your VA Service Officer at the VA. Would called them first before traveling to the main VA clinic in Nashville. They can send for it via records while you wait. They will need a state or Federal ID and your VA card. Your County veteran's rep can also provide you with one. Would suggest filing a copy with the county clerk in the county you live. Then it becomes a documented document on file that is readily available in the future.

You can have both VA prescription drug benefits and a Medicare prescription Part D dtug plsn, however you may not need one. With VA health benefits, you typically get premium-free drug coverage. However, if the VA-approved pharmacy locations or the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy Program (CMOP), doesn't work for you, then you may consider a Part D or a Part C plan with prescription drug coverage.

David Sherrill | Oct 8, 2018
James Douglas | Oct 8, 2019

The public contact office opens at 0830. You do not need an appointment. It is first come first serve. Just so you know, you will have to go through security, just like the airport as you enter the building. The public contact office is on the left just after the security desk.
