My mother (88yo) went in to get checked out after a recommendation from her GP. We had noticed rapid mental decline in the span of a month. After an evaluation he sent her on her way after noting that there was mild cognitive impairment which is normal with aging. He did recommend follow ups over the next few months with a different doctor. He performed/ordered no scans, just asked questions and tested reflexes. Fast forward a week and my mom fell. When we went to the ER I asked the doctor for a brain scan because as we had been telling doctors, something was not right. The ER doctor agreed that the scans were necessary. What they discovered was a brain tumor the size of a fist resulting in swelling and fluid buildup in the brain. I feel as though the signs of this were ignored as nothing more than old age. I’m giving two stars only because my parents felt they were nice and professional.
