Springwood Park is a nice local neighborhood park that is great for taking a nice walk with your dog or family.

The park itself is very beautiful, but BEWARE. It has a wonderful walking path, a nice playground, and a couple of smaller undercover areas with a table and grill. It also has a rudimentary basketball court, and a beautiful stone bench at the apex of the hill. The one big downside is the vandalism. People are constantly breaking glass on the walk way, lighting sections of grass on fire, and making a general mess of the park. If you have young ones or pets, you have to be vigilant of what is on the ground.

I wish it had more trees, more planters, and fewer rolling lawns. It's a suburban dad's ideal for a park. People also go offroading there semi-regularly, so prepare for deep tire marks on the grass. If only there was something we could put in the park that would make it difficult for cars to drive straight through.....

Update 6-5-18: The homeless are moving in. People hide in the woods next to the trail (circled in yellow)in the photos. The photo with the wooden bridge next to the pond just behind that is a new homeless camp (circled in yellow). Not a place to leave your kids unattended, definitely not safe. Don’t stick around very late. Update 6-7-18: The homeless are now harassing women. My wife told me about the interactions they have made with her, not very good. She won’t be going back she said.

Questions & Answers

Is there a secluded area in this park where I can have a picnic on the grass?

There is grass to have a picnic, though not very secluded. I'd recommend Clark Lake Park, also in Kent.
