I have had the pleasure of working for Kolmac for almost 3 years. I get comfort everyday knowing that each of our staff members is helping to save lives as our patients enter their recovery journey. Another perk is the referral partners we work with to help patients (hospitals, in-patient facilities, therapists, psychiatrists, the recovery community and families. Everyone in this industry is making an impact on patients lives and their recovery journey. We have worked hard to make it easy for patients and referral partners and we have done that. After an evaluation, most patients can enter treatment the same day and get the support they need. Seeing our patients complete the program gives me joy everyday. I know if I ever need to help someone into their recovery journey, I can send them to Kolmac for help- especially since they can work or continue their education while in the program. Our staff will do whatever it takes to help a patient in need of alcohol or substance disorder treatment in one of our 15 facilities in Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania or Delaware.

Intake process is a complete disaster. I got sober here 18 years ago. It is a shame what it has become.

I was bullied and discriminated by the clinical director (CD) and co-workers while working here (it didn’t help I was the only minority there) . The CD did not take my grievances seriously, and, she held a bias toward a particular co-worker. This co-worker would be rude to patient’s and was months behind on paperwork, and arrived late to work every single morning- with no consequences. The treatment I received from my co-workers, and the lack of empathy from the CD (who allowed my co-workers to talk down on me) I became very depressed. I ended up having to attend therapy 2x per week to deal with the stress, and would often cry out of frustration, because I did not know why I was receiving this treatment. I always arrived to work early early, submitted notes on time, and built a strong therapeutic relationships with the client’s I’ve encountered. I was ultimately terminated for something I was told to do by the clinical director. When I reminded the CD during the meeting she gaslighted me and acted as if she never gave me those instructions (mind you, at the point I did NOTHING without her direct command or approval). Overall I enjoyed the company, but the office culture is toxic and emotionally exhausting. The patients were great and extremely resilient. I wish I had the chance to say goodbye to them. I wish the company the best, however, it would be wise for them to re-evaluate management.

I am not familiar with other Kolmac locations but I can speak on my experience in Gaithersburg. Truly love their approach and all the staff. Truly knowledgeable and caring. No judgment. If you are seeking treatment this is the place!

Group is offered in the daytime from 10-1 or in the evening from 5:30-8:30.
The IOP is an 8 week program. I would suggest calling them to get an accurate number on cost because it depends on your insurance
