What a waste of my time. We found a injured baby/fox or coyote. I called them and they told me they won't take those. After several calls there...someone said I could take it to get euthanized. I told her I wish they had at least said that hours ago when we were trying to get help. Finally I was able to catch it risking myself. And I drive there and all of a sudden the "euthanizer" is not there. So these 3 women who were probably doing nothing want me to drive it to somewhere because they were afraid . What are they there for???

They will be so quick to euthanize animals you bring to them, please bring wildlife elsewhere!! Do not bring them here, it is awful!

I was flat out lied to. I specifically asked if the hurt turtle would be returned to me after healing from treatment. I was told yes. Then it turned into an "unknown volunteer will be returning the turtle to your yard at some random time without you knowing". I don't trust anyone that lies, seems awfully sketchy! Where is the turtle? Was it even returned to my land? Did a random stranger come on my property and when? Nahh, never again.

Second Chance Wildlife Center does not have a permit to work with beaver, raccoons, foxes, or deer and cannot accept these animals.
Yes--Second Chance takes in most animals that are native to Maryland. They don't take foxes, raccoons, beavers, or deer, for licensing reasons.
Sounds like a fledgling. Leave him alone but watch him at a distance. He may be grounded for 2-3 days while the parents watch and care for it at a distance. It’s that time of year though.
If you are in Montgomery County, MD, you can bring the robin to Second Chance Wildlife Center between 9 and 5. 7101 Barcelona Dr, Gaithersburg. Keep the bird warm and dry in a small container, with a towel to keep it from rolling around in the box. If you aren't in MoCo, Google wildlife rehab in your State and county.
Why? Because Wildlife rehabilitators are not well known and most people don't know there is such a thing until they find themselves with an injured or orphaned animal. Even then, they just call animal control which is mainly for domestics- not wildlife. Also, keeping the rehab license and obtaining one isn't easy. You must work under a master rehabber for 2 years minimum as an apprentice/volunteer. To keep your license you must take contiuning education courses to receive credits and that's not free either. Rehabbers have to create a network with each other and help each other out to survive. There is NO help from the government. Rehabbing is strictly a public service. And this is why donations are so important and there arent many rehabbers. Here are a list of rehabbers in MD https://mwrawildlife.org/referral-directory/ And if you want to become a rehabber then check out DNR https://dnr.state.md.us/wildlife/Pages/Licenses/
If the baby deer isn't hurt then I would just leave it there.
I volunteer at Second Chance. It is imperative that you free The snake from the netting. If you cannot do that, take the snake and the netting to Second Chance. Most likely the snake has lacerations from trying to get out of the netting. If you live in Montgomery County you can call Montgomery County Animal Services to help. If you don't help the snake it will die . They are an essential part of our ecosystem. Call Second Chance if you need more advice.
Ugh. Keep it warm. In a shoe box. Thats what we did when we found a,squirrel on the ground one, morning. Take it in tomorrow at 9 :00 a.m.
That same thing happened to me and first I took it to a different place but I found out later they only di cats and dog so they took it t on this place and I hope it is doing better witch I get it is! This place is great!
Yes, they can help you there. They have a vet that can help you with birds for sure.
Squirrels are wild animals, and the State of Maryland does not allow wild animals to be kept as pets. Consider other small mammals that make good pets. Check with the Montgomery County Animal shelter to see what animals they have for adoption. Good luck!
