We went here during our trip to visit family in Maine. what a beautiful spot to visit and the Observatory was such an amazing addition to our visit! You can see for miles and it's such a lovely view. It's also an amazing structure and I believe it's the tallest bridge observatory in the country. Totally worth going to and spending time there. The bridge is also beautiful even if you don't go up in the observatory!

Great place to visit! Historical. Take the kids they'll love it! Great echo quality. Also easy to get lost. Take a flashlight and charge your phones.

Fun and interesting. Talking the elevator up to overlook was impressive. Unless you have a dire fear of heights. The fort is impressive even by today's standards. Seeing how the defended in the early days was eye opening.

This fort is EPIC 🤩🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best views of any Military installation on the East Coast. Fort George Washington is runner up 👌. Massive is size and scope, this fort is simply awe inspiring 😃. A must see if your visiting Maine …MUST SEE. Moving to Maine? call Liberty Bell Moving & Storage for packing and moving services

Yes, you get a handout of the fort layout at the little shop as you enter .
Sometimes its free if u want to go to an event or observatory cost money. But its free to walk around Fort Knox!
Visitors can walk all throughout Fort Knox after paying gate entry. Maine Resident adults (ages 12-64) is $5.50 for entry to the Fort and another $2.50 to go up the Observatory elevator (total $8). Children 0-4 are free entry to the Fort/Observatory, Ages 5-11 are $2 for the Fort and another $2 to go up the Observatory elevator (total $4). Seniors (age 65+) are free for the Fort and $2.50 to the Observatory.
Dogs are allowed on a leash 4' or less (please come prepared to pick up their poop).
Unsure. I live in MD
Allow two hours for the fort. It wasn't used ever but there was a guide from the organization who told us interesting facts about the fort and also came with us to many places. Tower is a few minutes affair.
The grounds are open but the facility is closed for the season currently.
They dont have camping facilities at all, but perhaps if you can talk to the right people you can arrange a special outing. The surrounding areas do have a lot of camping options, so you're not completely out of luck.
Actually, Fort Knox Maine is in Waldo County. Located in Prospect (Stockton Springs) on the Belfast side of the Penobscot River.
The entry fee for Maine residents into Fort Knox is $6.00 per person and $6.00 for the Fort and Observatory. Hope to see you soon! Michael
I really don't know sorry
Have not stayed there so answer is unknown
I don't recall if there's a charge or not, you may wish to check parks/forts at Maine.gov.
It took my family roughly 2 hours but we read everything and looked at everything. I don't think there is a price to get in but I don't remember paying to get in but I could be wrong. You do have to pay if u want to go up in the tower tho
Yes they do but they have these great special events throughout the year and this September 29th they are having a craft fair. Check their site for other special events.
Sorry Francis, there are no moorings and docking on the granite piers is prohibited due to the unsafe environment (swirling tidal flow and slippery stone stairs). We request all traffic enter the state park via the gate house for safety and attendance management.
There is no cost for a walk, the entrance fee to the fort is $ 5.50 and $ 8.00 if you also want to do the observatory.
You can be dropped off in front of the gift shop but when it comes to getting inside the fort itself there is a good amount of walking. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has a difficult time walking. The rock pathway is rough on someone with no dificulty due to the way it is. The path may make wheelchairs difficult but not impossible. The first time I went I took my daughter in a stroller and it was a lot of work and we got stuck meny times. Inside the fort itself there are meny stairways to explore deeper but stone ramps to get to the center and some parts inside but again a lot of walking and uneven surface that could prove dangerous.
Pets are allowed throughout the fort on a leash no longer than 4' (please come with provisions to pick up their poop!). Pets are not allowed in the observatory or left unattended in cars.
It is
Yes
Yes, but its way more fun to go for a couple hours.
