I really enjoyed the experience that my mom had today with society of the blind she has to go back to complete everything but they gave her some good tools to help her to be able to see a little better thank you so much

Wishing they could do more for my Father who recently went blind. They defect alot, try to sell you things and don't follow up. My Father raised a lot of money years ago for the Lions Club. You would think they would help.

There are a number of support groups and activities available virtually at this time. 4 classes in training in independent living or assistive technology or travel skills you will have to speak to their program directors directly or coordinate with department of rehabilitation to have them pay for the services. I strongly recommend you call and set up an appointment to discuss what services are available in the best ways they can help. There are other resources in the area depending on what your girlfriends needs are and How much wish and she is already lossed and what additional skills she already has acquired.
I don't exactly know where you would go to get services for someone in jail but I have heard of people in jail receiving services. I think the teachers at the society for the blind would be a good start. If they can't they would probably know who could. The California Department of Rehabilitation blind Services would be another place to look. Project rebound is a group that works with people who are still in prison and out on parole getting college education. They might know some Services too.
Depending on your girlfriend's situation she may be eligible for multiple free services. I would suggest calling 916-889-7501, and ask for Shane Snyder or, if she's over 55, Kathleen Shevlin.
Any smart phone with a large screen. There are several apps that are helpful and as long as she has a smart phone she can download the apps. Also using the speech to text option available on smart phones can be of assistance. My son is visually impaired and has had success using both android and apple systems. Best of luck!
We have a parking lot behind the building (opens from S Street). You can also stop in front of our entrance on 13th Street, but this is strictly for 15 minutes tops as this is the designated drop off & pick up location for Paratransit shuttles and cabs. (Be careful, the curb is pretty high.)
Yes they do.
