The place is too congested and noisy to write an exam. I went there to transfer my Texas license to California. Texas DMV’s and their systems are way way better than California. This system makes me to go back to Texas.

Best DMV experience I've ever visited. Bright, clean and spacious. The employees are super friendly, knowledgeable and really want to help you. I was in and out in 30 min to get a duplicate without an appointment. 9 came at the first hour so go early. Even though applird therefor a confirmation humber. If you have that, it goes fast. What an amazing upgrade.

The worst experience. My son's paperwork with proof of driving school completion was give to someone else by an employee. This employee assured me that it wouldn't be a problem that he gave my son's paperwork away. He would make notations that my so did complete the course. When we went back he was not able to take the test without the paperwork previously give away by this employee. I was told that we needed to get another copy of the pink paper. I had the driving company text me a copy of the paper. I showed this to another employee who told me that they need a copy in there hands. My reply was, you had a copy in your hands but gave it to someone else. He told me I need to keep track of my paperwork. This place is awful. Won't let me post with zero stars so the one is a gift.

Wow! Please go here with an appointment. After moving here from DC I needed a California Drivers license. They allow for pre clearance on the website so I uploaded a copy of my birth certificate, and two copies proving california residency (utility and electric bill). After uploading docs, I received a print out that I could go to the dmv at any time. I went on Friday at 3:30pm and I was out by 3:45pm. The waiting for non appointments was at least 2 hours with the line wrapping around the building. When I entered the building I was told to take a seat I didn't even have time to sit down before my number was called as appointments go directly to the front of the queue. Overall, great experience!

Do I make an appointment for driver's license renewal mine has been expired for less than 2 years, being out of the country.
The only way to avoid a large crowd it to be here are like 6 am. No matter when I come here ( which has been like 6 times in 3 weeks due to coming with multiple family members) I always have to wait from 4 to 6 hours for non appointment and about 1 hour for appointments. MAKE APPOINTMENTS AND SPARE YOURSELF.
I need to get rid of a good car
No but it is recommended that you do
Make an appointment. Fill out a form, pay done.
As long as you arrive at the DMV location before they close they will see you. The only time this isn't the case is if you need to take their driving test. I believe you have to be at DMV no later than 45 minutes before closing.
You need to go to an actual DMV. This is only a kiosk and issues registeration for your car.
