A basic assumption of any hotel stay is privacy and safety. This had neither. Do NOT make the same mistake we did, especially if you have kids. Check the photos attached to this review for yourself. The rooms were unsafe and inhospitable. The safety locks were smashed and broken into, even the peephole had no lens and was instead blocked with scraps of papers. The rooms are not the same as in the photos. The stench of smoke was very heavy despite the "smoke free" rooms we booked and the signs assuring "this is a 100% smoke free hotel". The rooms were not cleaned whatsoever. This is not an exaggeration. The towels were stained, the bedsheets had excessive hair and stains, the curtains have not been cleaned since JFK was president, and the floors! You can hear your feet scrunch on the dust on the floor! If you have kids who get their hands on anything, be even more aware! There were unknown pills on the floor under the sink (photos attached) that were left over and never cleaned up. Random strangers can just peep into your room denying you any privacy (peephole is empty and stuffed with paper) and others can force themselves into your room like they seemingly already did because the locks are broken into. The conditions of the rooms were beyond unacceptable and outright unsafe for a single night there and inhospitable for any length of time. I ended up paying a premium to book a stay at another hotel because we could not even sleep one night there. To make matters worse, the front desk service did not offer to fix anything. They gave us a replacement room which had the same issues and even heavier smoke stench. They did not even have or use a smoke deodorizer. They refused to cancel our booking though we did not stay there and after telling them about these conditions, they even refused to issue a refund even though we did not stay a single night of our multi-day booking there. It's was a decent stay. Rooms were clean view was good. Hotel service was ok. Not so good not so bad. We felt the beds were pretty small for two people. Also the baths were way too small with no bath rugs included. A bit better service would have make this rating 4 star. But for people who need cheap stay to spend a night, it's worth it.

The staff was very friendly. The lady taking care of the complimentary breakfast did and excellent job. The carpet was pretty stained in the hallway and room which is a turnoff.The hotel was under construction so not sure it was going to be replaced. Otherwise a good stay.

Well, let’s see how I should get started, when we first checked in the hotel, our first room 125 smelled like urine and a strong smell of a dog. The smell was so foul that we backed out of the room like we had just encountered a dog fight. Evidently housekeeping was too busy making beds but forgot to completely sanitized the room after the previous checkout. I went to inform the front desk staff and we were quickly given a new room. The second room 128 door lock was broken and we had to sleep with one eye open all night until we heard a loud boom around 5:30 A.M. 04/08/2022. The lights went out in the entire hotel, it was so spooky and creepy. I thought a generator would kick in but nothing happened. We couldn’t go down the hall way because the emergency lights never came on, so we could see our way to safely. I was so afraid of staying here because it was so unpredictable, It felt like Friday night at Elm Street or something out of a horror story. We tried to plug in our phones behind the night stand and there were electrical prongs sticking out of the wall, this is a fire hazard waiting to happen. I don’t know if we will survive this stay. We came all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to Virginia Beach. We came to a funeral to bury a love one but it seems like someone already died here trying to keep up with safety issues. Front staff was nice but someone needs to speak with the owner and let him or her know that the guest are experiencing fire hazards, outdated broken furniture, broken locks on the doors and toilets that are too low to the ground. I couldn’t imagine a senior citizen or anyone disabled coming back to stay here. I used the toilet and it seems like I was sitting on a toddler size seat at a daycare. The toilet worked but come on now, the price we paid should’ve come with clean towels with no hair from the previous guest. This is part one of our stay. Let’s see what today brings.
