At the Gatlin Ave office. I had no appointment - I arrived a few minutes before the open. The security guard did a fantastic job giving us general directions for which building for benefits or cards. A greeter expedited signin and I was seated in the building waiting by 9:20 AM with an assigned ticket. Update: @10:20 AM - I am all done ..... great service and again the Security Guard was fantastic 👏🏾

The wait is a bit long but the process after one is attended is very fast. We arrived at 10am and left at 2pm.

Easy peasy. Went for name change, had already filled out the app online the day before. Got there, asked the security guard where to go for name change and he asked me if I had my docs and he let me right in. No waiting in line outside since I had already applied online. Guard was friendly, was seen in minutes, was there maybe 15 mins start to finish.

They need someone that specifically deals with calls because they really are lacking in setting appointments and other stuff that would potentially remove the hassle of long lines.

Yes but you will need to fill out the ss 5 application form and mail it in with proof of your identity. The form tells you what they accept.

The thing I have to do is a name change, has to be in person. Seems I have to wait til they're back to normal operating hours in person.
It is useless to call. The wait times to speak to a representative are between 2 and 3 hours each time! It's best to call and leave your phone on speaker while you get your house chores or errands done.

Honestly, you're supposed to be able to do it over the phone. The problem is the phone lines are either always busy, they never pick up, or you're on hold for a long time. It seems to be best to go there and make an appointment, assuming they can't help you the same day you are there.

All you need to do. Go to card center during their business hour and fill out application. Application form located outside the building. You can bring en envelope with original documents and drop off at the box by the front door. They will get all documents and will send original in 2 weeks. Then you will receive new social security card.

No, but they give you a piece of paper at the appointment that legally acts as a card in ANY instance you need one. They mail the actual card to you about 2 weeks after the appointment.
