Absolutely five stars for this little gem! Tucked away beneath the beautiful pines you're going to be tasting some of the best French cuisine ever. Wonderful service, ambience and presentation. Don't hesitate to book!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Never really had French cooking before but came here for Valentines Day dinner with my girlfriend on a recommendation. Almost screwed up my reservation online (user error) but they were accommodating about getting us in later. Service was awesome, and the special Valentines desert option hit out of the park. If you're lucky the chef will come out and chat if he's got downtime.

Une petite étoile dans le nord du michigan! We loved every bite and had a wonderful conversation with Chef Guillaume after dinner. Perfect food and service in the cutest little restaurant! We felt like we were in France again.

Phenomenal food from start to finish. Every course was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Highlights: mussels, charcuterie, shrimp creole, and warm chocolate cake. All of these dishes were fantastic. The standouts: onion soup (WOW), and duck duo. Do not pass these up. My only suggestion would be for the kitchen to communicate and educate the staff about the finer details of the dishes so as not to guess or generalize too much when asked. Build their confidence in the knowledge of the food and help them sell it easier to potentially hesitant customers. Overall a wonderful dining experience. HIGHLY recommend.

We took our infant daughter there and it was fine
That's exactly right--woodcock. The story behind the name is that back before La Becasse was a French restaurant, it was Woodcock's Family Restaurant. When the O'Neill's bought the restaurant and converted it to a French restaurant, they kept the family name, Woodcock, translated into French. It has now been La Becasse going on 40 years.
