Volunteers keep things going, Steam Up was a great experience. People of all ages were there. Having equipment outside and working was great! Parking is a issue with events.

Always love this museum!!! Keep the V&T alive! They even have a cool Kids train in the back of the first building yoh can look at, touch screen video booths, and a whole second building you can check out! This place is RAD if you like nevada history or train history! They also offer locomotive rides!

Take your time to read the signs and watch the animations. I learned so much and loved the feeling of going back in time. If you can catch a docent to point a few things out it's even better!

Loved it

You have to pay. If you have kids, I highly recommend the Christmas train in December.
There are model trains displayed in display cases but no model train layout per say.
Yes, usually plenty of room.
They have model trains on display in enclosed cases. They have excursions but they only have a limited amount of track, I think somewhere around 1 mile. For train excursions I suggest you look into the V and T railway. I think it goes from Carson City to Virginia City. Hope this helps.
The Nevada State Railroad Museum is hosting the Great Western Steam Up, July 1-4, 2022. There will be visiting steam locomotives, the largest gathering of Virginia & Truckee Railroad equipment in over 75 years, other steam-powered equipment, food trucks, entertainment, a beer tent, and more. For details and tickets check out https://greatwesternsteamup.com.
Peak season i would say it's summer. July 4th is huge. I dont know about annual numbers
Yes there is. Check out the V&T Railroad Historical Society. VTRRHS.ORG
The museum operates train or motor car rides most weekends from May to September and select weekends in April, October, November, and December.
This is a limited rail experience. They steam only as a part of historical value. The rails are only on the circumference of the property. There are excellent photo ops and the museum is very nice experience
Please call them for details
Ther are abot $7 and they run about 10 minutes.
I'm on the steam train crew and i haven't been told that. Steam train is running this weekend.
