Nice lake, 4 wheel trails good, it is a dry camp with out houses. At the time the host was doing some funny business switching reserved sites and first come sites, made for confusing and angry situations. Seemed the powers above had taken care of the problem. Big negative is if you bring an off road toy, the rangers make you keep on a trailer or you must leave it at the staging area. Stupidest thing ever. If you travel with a toy hauler your stuff is left overnight unattended. Policy needs to be changed. Also the no campfire rules are out of hand in development campsite.... nice overall experience but will drycamp elsewhere until they change some rules.

This camping site is next to gold lake. No drinking water and feel crowded and noisy if a lot of RV or big family with kids there. But in general, it is a good place to swim in the lake or drive 10 min to long lake trail or round lake trail, which are awesome. It is too hot in September. Lake makes you cool down.

Gorgeous location. Beautiful lake, just know if you miss your checkin by 12 hours your campsite becomes open for anyone. Found that out the hard way.

You would be able to make it to the campgrounds towing a pop up trailer. There are some places that you will need to take your time. My car with <6" clearance made it with zero issues.
As I recall there was also one in the South campground which is smaller, also on the lake to the South. I had heard they were closing the boat-in campground in order to redo the pit toilet. Supposed to be one or two years.
Yes! Also there are no faucets there so you need to bring your own water.
Yes there are first come first serve sites. You'll need to get there early in the morning Friday or better Thursday. It's slim pickings to nothing on Saturday or Sunday. Even Friday after 12 can be 'Campground Full'.
No boat rental @Gold Lake. Sardine lake has boat rentals.
They fire pits (at least ours) had a fold over grill. However it was pretty bent which made it hard to use but we made it work.
Yes. No water or electricity. No reservations. They have a website that has all the details.
