Okay shaded park for a walk, run ,jog or short hike. Some wildlife can be seen by the pond. Shaded picnic area with bathrooms. Large disc golf course in wooded interior.

Hidden gem in Kennett Square. Pass through town a thousand times in the last 20 years and never knew his park existed. Several miles of nice walking trails in the woods and along the water

A good guess would be a quarter of a mile.
Have never seen anyone fish there. I take my daughter there to play, hike, and have parties.
No swimming, boating or water sports of any kind. The bottom of that pond is deadly dangerous because of the silt depth. A teenager in 2014 died trying to get his ball. The kid was not a strong swimmer, but apparently the bottom - or lack there of - did not help. Leave that water to the geese and fish.
Check out the Anson B. Nixon Park website under the "About" section. It states that the proposed site for the park in 1986 was 106 acres that included 79 acres in the Kennett Township. That portion was used as a landfill by Southeastern Chester County Refuse Authority that closed in 1978. Anson B. Nixon masterminded the landfill project and so they named the tract, in honor, "Nixon Park". The "About" section, again, on the park website explains this is much greater detail.
