Check out the Anson B. Nixon Park website under the "About" section. It states that the proposed site for the park in 1986 was 106 acres that included 79 acres in the Kennett Township. That portion was used as a landfill by Southeastern Chester County Refuse Authority that closed in 1978. Anson B. Nixon masterminded the landfill project and so they named the tract, in honor, "Nixon Park". The "About" section, again, on the park website explains this is much greater detail.
