LoL- I initially responded to Ron not Mark! Camping has been allowed on our beaches at Peter's Point and along American Beach up to just south of Burney Park! The rules have changed some and I do know you can park a self-contained RV (no hookups) in the parking areas! There are showers in the restroom and I would suggest asking the Security guards at the entrance to the beach at Peter's Point when you get in the area for further details. Seeing they control the beach, I'm unsure what areas on the beach camping is still allowed and if the parking lots are just for local residents or not?! There is also a RV park along A1A just to the north of Burney Park! Camping at Ft. Clinch state park or Talbot State Park to the south would be $uggested but camping in the lot for free is allowed!
I don't think reservations are required, contact Nassau county to be sure. The camping signs at the park state you can't exceed 24 hours.
Most likely dolphins. If they were sharks you would've been able to see the top of their tales as well as their dorsal fins. That's the rule of thumb anyways... dolphin you'll see the dorsal fin and no tail because the tail is horizontal, sharks you'll see the dorsal fin and usually the tail because it is vertical though it doesn't usually stick up as high and it all depends on the shark. But also seeing two like that side by side gives you a better chance it was dolphins and not sharks.
Don't believe overnight parking is permitted. Contact Nassau county parks for details on what is open for camping. A lot has changed in the past couple of years.
No.
Free, quiet, easily accessible, nearby Ritz Carlton hotel if you want to get fancy afterwards. Southern end of Amelia Island, so head north for restaurants, bars. 24 hours? Don't think so, more like Dawn to dusk.
The police will catch you for violating the law which is stated in the park.." Not to exceed 24 hours ". They patrol the beaches ! I would recommend Fort Clinch if you plan on longer than 24 hours.
Please do not break the rules when staying at our parks...Yes you can park your R.V. and no I believe you received erroneous information. Do no listen to the lawbreaker who stayed at park for three days. Sometimes vagrants abuse their welcome. You are allowed to stay no more than 24 hours, please observe our " no leash-no beach " policy for dogs some people who don't respect this privilege as it is also the Law. We welcome you and wish for you a pleasant stay but, I must admonish, please respect our rules and law as opposed to the knucklehead woman who carelessly and thoughtlessly admitted !!!
