I went in due to left arm immobility and excruciating pain. It came on suddenly with no other symptoms or an injury. I wish my only complaint was the wait time between getting an x-ray, seeing the doctor and getting discharged, but unfortunately my experience was worse. I was told by a rather dismissive and condescending Dr. Regina Carpenter-Edmond I have osteoarthritis (based on the report from Dr. Michael A. Smith) and I should take 600 mg of ibuprofen and make an appointment with a specialist. I asked her if it wasn't something else because I never had issues with my shoulder before and I regularly workout and kayak. She said using the weed wacker the day before (while waving her arms over her head) could bring on this sort of pain and immobility from osteoarthritis. I still wasn't convinced and left with a cloud of irritation on top of my still excruciating pain. This morning I had an appointment with a specialist and we looked at my x-ray together. NO signs of osteoarthritis, but as he said and pointed out, there very clearly is a build up of calcium. Diagnosis calcific bursitis and treatment a steroid shot. All that for $120 vs Medstar misdiagnosis for $250 + the x-ray. Waiting for the bill from Medstar as their "system was down and they couldn't process bills." Medstar, maybe just eat that bill and we call it even since the pain I dealt with from last Wednesday's visit until now cost me 5 days of living and work productivity I can't get back.

I had to visit the Columbia Urgent Care center during the work day, and was so grateful to be able to get in, be seen, & get back to my office within an hour!!! The nurse that took me in quickly discovered my needs, promptly communicated with the doctor, & the doctor was able to see me within a few minutes. The doctor was very attentive, expeditiously examined me, informed me of next steps, & she sent me on my way. The entire staff was kind, helpful, & put me at ease. I will return here should I have future cause to do so!!
