Just adopted my new fur baby and couldn’t be happier. Thank you to the wonderful staff that helped me the best they could. For giving me extra detailed info on the kitten before I drove out to meet her. She is the perfect fit and has settled in wonderfully already. The entire adoption process was so easy and nice and the staff were so wonderful. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Such a great and clean facility. I adopted two cats recently, and not only did they provide all necessary medications, but also cat food (dry and wet), two towels from their cage to help with their comfort, and all of their known medical records. They also offer a discounted first vet visit. Couldn't recommend this facility enough!

We found one of the loves of our lives here. Named Natasha at the time, Snips has become so important to my girlfriend and I. We are so thankful for HSHV for being so kind and helpful from the moment we walked through their doors. 1 and half, and we love our fur baby.

We adopted the newest member of our family a couple of days ago. From the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out with her it was an excellent experience. The staff are all welcoming, attentive, and very helpful. The …

Hi! You can keep an eye out for future promotions at www.hshv.org -- look under "Adopt -->Adoption Specials." Thank you!
Yes, we do. Please contact our veterinary clinic for more information: 734-662-4365. Thank you for asking!
Today (May 5, 2018) from 11am - 5pm at the shelter on Cherry Hill Road. Tiny Lions Lounge is not part of this event.
it's on oct.6th...through Bissel empty the shelters..but I don't think HSHV IS on the list of shelters ..you might want to check online.
We're so sorry to hear about the loss of a companion animal, and thank you for helping leave a legacy for other animals. To make a memorial donation in honor of the dog and to send a notification to the family, please go to www.hshv.org/memorial or call us at 734-661-3571. Thank you.
Although, there are some events where you can pick your price (even free) on adoptions
Hi, Jacquelin! Thank you for asking! You can bring cash donations to us at HSHV (3100 Cherry Hill Rd). If you give them to one of our adoptions specialists at the front desk, they can make out a receipt for tax purposes. Feel free to call (734) 661-3573 with any questions. Thank you!
Yes, we do! Hope to see you soon; we have lots of kittens who'd love to meet you! :)
Awesome place the staff is very nice and knowledgeable can give you lots of information a lot that I didn't even know about these days like you can take an animal home and see if it is compatible with you and can adjust to you and you're home free little pets have feelings too🐒🙏
Puppy's are a bit more than older dogs (3 & up last I checked). Additionally, they have puppy's from what they call the "Love Train", which is a program run by them that produces litters from known K-9 parents vs say someone surrendering a pregnant dog or puppy that then gets put up for adoption. All dogs are completely vaccinated & spayed/neutered. Lastly, if you're inexperienced training dogs, they also offer obedience classes that are highly loving, effective, & at a far lower cost than most private classes. I hope this info helps. Good Luck!
While we offer a temporary harbor program for people in crisis (e.g., home burning down), we'd suggest a family friend or a trusted boarding facility for typical moving situations. Thank you!
Thank you so much for asking, Melissa! At this time, we have lots of terrariums, but really appreciate your thinking of the animals at HSHV!
They have regular intake hours, posted on their website, I don't know about emergency intake
Yes, we can! Thank you so much for asking and thinking of the animals at HSHV!
We do! Please see www.hshv.org/adopt . And thank you for asking!
Yes. I think they will let you borrow them for free
Hello! Yes, you can donate your car to HSHV through Charity Motors: https://www.charitymotors.org/donate-your-car/ . Thank you for asking!
Call and ask they are very helpful!!! I think they do surgeries like 3 times a week....
When they're at least 2 pounds. :) Thank you for asking!
I'm not sure just give them a call...they im sure would do whatever they could to help u out...ive never fostered only adopted.
Kittens are above $100. Check on the website. I saw only one left. It is a tabby cat. Right now they are giving it for free. No adopt one get one, just free, so hurry up before the last one is gone. Good luck.
Hi, Claire! It's $7/person, and up to 3 adults are free with the group. For further questions on our humane education programs, please feel free to call us at 734-661-3564. Thank you for asking!
Go to the website they have many
You can use google through your email to sign up, you will see a review below, after you put a number of star rating then you will able to add photos, videos, comments, etc
We're so sorry to hear that, Sidnei. You're welcome to call our veterinary clinic to discuss.
Hi there! Please contact our veterinary clinic. 734-662-4365. Thank you!
I think I would contact the Michigan Anti Cruelty Society in Detroit. They provide compassionate low cost or perhaps even free care for animals at their vet clinic, attached to their shelter. Most shelters will want the owner to surrender the dog
Hi there! We have some prices listed on our website (www.hshv.org/clinic), and those that aren't, please give us a call! (When we're busy with a client in-person, you may need to leave a message-- and we're sorry about that-- but we promise to call you back!)
Hi there! While we love the thought of getting someone a companion animal as a gift, we certainly wouldn't want anyone to be unhappily surprised! We'd encourage you to buy a gift certificate for adoption so that your mom can pick out the pet that best fits her. :) Thank you for asking!
Hi there! There's a misconception surrounding the term "hypoallergenic," and we'd be happy to help you find an animal who works for you, including things like sending blankets home with you to test. Please stop in or give us a call!
Hi! You can see the animals available for adoption at www.HSHV.org/adopt . Thank you!
Hi! If you’re interested in adopting a rescue puppy, please check out our Love Train program: www.HSHV.org/lovetrain . Thank you!
I wouldn't know that you may have to go and ask, sorry if I caused any inconvenience.
We do not. But thank you so much for asking! (P.S. For information on items we're looking for, please see www.hshv.org/wishlist)
Hi, I’m an active 78, looking for a mature labradoodle rescue in MI. I’d like to be on the Pet Alert email list. I would also like to volunteer to walk medium well-behaved dogs. Sharon
Take it the humane society I'm fairly sure they are no questions asked. They only care for the welfare of the animal
Yes, as long as they’re “dog-safe”—i.e., no small parts like googly eyes, and can be washed. Thank you for asking!
You do NOT need an appointment to adopt -- thank you for asking! You do need an appointment to visit our veterinary clinic or to adopt an animal from the Love Train, and we recommend appointments if you're going to bring an animal in. Thank you for your question! You can see more at www.hshv.org.
Hi Darlene! Thank you for your question! That's the adoption fee for young puppies, and it includes their spay/neuter surgery, initial health check and discounted follow-up appointment, up-to-date vaccines, and microchip ID. We should note that the adoption fees for adult dogs is lower, and for senior dogs even lower... and senior people can adopt senior animals at HSHV for free! :)
Yes! We often help rescue them, then work with licensed rehabbers to rehabilitate them.
Hi! We wish there were one answer, but it’s different depending on where you live. Please contact your local government.
Hi, Neal! We are open to the public all days except major holidays. For adoptions, our hours are 11-6 M-W, 11-7 Th-F, 11-5 S-S. Please check our website for more information. Thank you for asking!
We are open for adoptions! Please see our website for hours and more information: www.hshv.org. Thank you!
Hi Meena, thank you very much for thinking of us. Yes, we can accept used pet supplies! See our guidelines here on what we are able to accept: https://hshv.org/wishlist/
Hi Annie, please contact our Intake Department at 734-661-3528 with questions about surrendering an animal. Thank you!
Hi there! Please see www.hshv.org/jobs for our current openings. Thank you!
Hi there! We'd encourage you to come in to see our adoptable dogs and talk with our adoptions specialists! We're open 7 days a week for adoptions - M-W 11-6, Th-F 11-7 and Sa-Sun 11-5. Thank you for considering a rescue!
Yes, we do! Thank you for asking! We love Pitty mixes and actually offer a discount on their spay/neuter surgeries, too! Please see https://hshv.org/clinic/#1518271059798-d4b53d79-083d for more info or go to www.hshv.org/clinic.
Yes they could always use more towels
I believe so. I rescued a cat a few months from this please. Amazing facility.
Please contact the Humane Society. The staff will be able to advise and assist you.
Hi there-- our nonprofit veterinary clinic does offer payment plans, and we also work with Care Credit. We hope we can help.
Yes-- and thank you for asking! Please see more information about spay/neuter on this page: https://hshv.org/clinic/#1518271059798-d4b53d79-083d
Hi, Gwen! We appreciate your concern for the animals. Fortunately, both research and our experience confirms that folks who don’t pay an adoption fee have the same bond and care for their companion animals than folks who pay a fee. (For many years, we’ve adopted senior animals to senior people free, too.) Plus, our adoption policies, screening and process remain the same, no matter the fee. If you have further concerns, please feel free to call us! Thank you!
Yes they are there certain days
Often! Check out our Love Train program that transports animals (often, puppies!) from struggling shelters and rescues. On Love Train adoption days, there are typically a lot of puppies to choose from. Thanks for looking to adopt, not shop! www.hshv.org/lovetrain
Thanks so much! I actually made it in Saturday and adopted a wonderful heathen puppy. You called him Tiny....we named him Muggs and we loooove him!!!!
They will take them in and do an assesment to home those that are able to be homed.
Yes, we do. Please see our website for more information: www.hshv.org.
We do! Please see www.hshv.org/adopt for a list of dogs waiting for a home. And thank you for looking to adopt!
Hi! For injured or orphaned wildlife, please call our Emergency Rescue: 734-661-3512. For general information on wildlife, you may want to contact one of our wildlife partners, like Howell Nature Center. Thank you for looking out for the animals!
Certainly— and thank you for reaching out! Please make an appointment at our vet clinic 734-662-5585 and our veterinarians can discuss options with you.
Hi; it depends on what kind of pet you adopt! :) Some don't require carriers, some are okay to take home in temporary cardboard carriers, and others will need a regular carrier (which we sell at a discount). Feel free to call us or stop in situation - (734) 662-5585. Thank you for asking!
Hi! Please see our website for fees and more info: http://hshv.org/clinic/#1518271059798-d4b53d79-083d And thank you for getting your kitty fixed! ❤️👍
Sometimes cats are up for adoption that have been declawed prior to their arrival at HSHV. However, you must consider you may have to deal with some of the issues listed above if you adopt a declawed cat.
You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer, but there is a Junior Volunteer program for those who are in the 12-17 year range. Read more about it on the website www.hshv.org/volunteerfaq/
Hello! Please call our clinic at (734) 662-4365. Thank you!
Hi, Renee-- so sorry for the frustration! Our main number is 734-662-5585. Thank you!
We returned him this Monday and I called this morning and he was already on hold. I asked if there was anything we could do because he has already bonded with us and we with him, but they said not until the other person decides if they want him or not. Which isn’t until the 15 ( we are ready to adopt tomorrow).
We are so sorry to hear about your cat, Sharon. Please call our outpatient clinic at 734-662-4365. Hugs to you..
Hi Jeffrey, While our service area is Washtenaw County and Plymouth, one of our staff members may know of a resource available. Feel free to call us: 734-662-5585. Thank you for looking out for the cats!
Hello! To adopt, you must be at least 21 years of age. Thank you for asking!
Hello! Our monthly low cost vaccines clinics are typically 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. here at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. You can see dates and times and prices on our website at www.hshv.org/vaccineclinic. Thank you for asking!
They are open Saturdays, though the hours change. I believe they are actually open later
Yes, we are always accepting large towels (not hand size), flat sheets, and blankets—thank you! We also welcome pet food donations (in original packaging, can be already opened and just taped up, within 3 months of the expiration date), as well as gently used and clean pet supplies (e.g., cat and dog toys, dog crates, dog sweaters). Thank you for thinking of the homeless animals at HSHV!
Give them a call
Hi there! We're so sorry; we do not currently offer that service (only spay/neuter for cats and dogs currently). We'd suggest contacting a small mammal specialist veterinarian like City Pets. Thank you for your question, and for neutering your rabbit! :)
Hi there! We do spay/neuter surgeries nearly every day of the week. Please call the HSHV veterinary clinic at (734) 662-4365 to make an appointment. Thank you for getting your cat spayed!
We'd be happy to work with you; please give us a call.
Hi, Ethan! You can see the animals (including the cats and kittens) currently available for adoption at www.hshv.org/adopt . If that doesn't answer your question, please give us a call at 734-662-5585. Thank you!
Prices vary depending on age and gender. Far more reasonable than some other nearby vets.
That's correct! Kittens as young as 2 months can be spayed safely as long as they meet a weight requirement. 5 or 6 months is perfect! Thank you for looking into it!
At the website
If the Humane Society can't help you there is a place in Saline Michigan called Pet's and Things. They have a wide variety of birds as well as other animals. They are a great pet store, their animals are well cared for and a lot of their birds are hand Tamed which is great for kids. If you Google Pet's and Things, Saline, Michigan, it will give you all the information you need as well as posts of animals available. I hope this helps.
Not sure. Give them a call.
Yep. You should call first because you'll probably need to bring proofs of vaccines.
You should call the shelter. They would be able to answer your questions.
I didn't see any when we were there. They are very helpful though so maybe they can point you in the right direction. They are connected with a lot of organizations.
Just go to their front desk and they will walk you through the process
Call the shelter they'll come get um, if you can catch the dog and keep it till they get there that will assure it gets picked up. They have a 7 day stray hold that gives the owners a chance to look for it. And yes. They do scan for micro chips. They helped reunite our kitten with us and then we paid for her to be chipped in case she gets loose again on us.
Each case is evaluated individually. There will be fees to surrender your car but s/he will be treated with care by an exceptional staff.
Hi, Christine--We are an open admissions shelter, so there is no age limit. Please see www.hshv.org/surrender for more information on surrendering an animal to HSHV.
Yes, but you should check with the staff before giving them to the dogs, because some maybe on special diets.
Huron Valley Humane Society has excellent veterinary services for cars, dogs, and other animals brought in for care. They serve many animals so it can mean a long line but it's worth the wait if you are concerned about expenses.
Ethan you need to call them. They are always looking for volunteers. Understand that you must have the proper training and they take every aspect of this business serious. They do have the training classes readily available.
You would have to call the clinic
Yes if you live in Washtenaw County!
I recommend having them come to the house. Much easier on everyone.
Young kittens never make it on the website. They are adopted as fast as they come in. I volunteer there. When I worked Wednesday they had no kittens. Call first this is not kitten season. UPDATE. There have been NO kittens in at least 3 weeks. As of March 1. Kitten season starts on a few months
I would call the Humane Society .
Sorry, I do not know.
You can call and ask what is available. It changes daily, or you can look on their website. They have all available animals posted. Some animals are not at the shelter but in foster homes. They're on the site though.
There is a junior volunteer program for kids 12 and older. There's more information on the website or you can call the shelter.
Kittens get adopted so fast the question is meaningless. You just have to go there.
They do have small dogs, my suggestion would be to call and request a Chihuahuas if one comes in
Huron valley is a no kill shelter... some animals go to be with foster families the they wait for their forever home.
yes, JV volunteers can be 12 or older
Probably anytime animals can use they can use just about anything you can give
Check their website or call them. This would not be the place for this iind if question. An appropriate question would be is their entrance handicapped accessible?
I can pay that when i come back n for orientation right?
18 to be a full volunteer, but they have a junior volunteer program for people 12-17.
I'm not sure but if you go and find an animal you would like to adopt you can put them on hold for 24 hours
Yeah I think it's free or they ask for a small donation.
